I found this a very average bar and grill. It’s really big inside so could accommodate bands and events. I was hoping based on the name and signage that the barbecue would be better. It wasn’t. The sauce was so sugary and nasty I couldn’t eat it. However, the server was really attentive and seemed to take care of all the patrons. It seemed to be mostly locals or people who knew each other, as they were pretty loud but eh, locals. I “might” stop again, but def not for bbq.

I went to see my favorite band in the Vandalia area again. I love Van Waylon Band, and any time they are close by, I go see them. They always pack the house. I really like watching them at the Hawg Diner because I can get me some cod nuggets (my favorite) and fries and then dance the night away. This place is small but their food is great and they even have daily specials. I do wish it was a larger space, but I still enjoy going and listening to my favorite band. The management and staff are always so nice, and I look forward to seeing them, as well as local friends. I hope sometime in the future, this place will expand the actual bar so there is more space for dancing. If you notice online and in local ads that Van Waylon Band is playing, do yourself a favor and go see them. They have a great variety of music like Classic and Southern Rock and Country music too. Never boring, and they have several singers. I say go to the Hawg Diner and try their food and check out the band.

This is the only place I go to when in town for work. Diamond billiard table – best in town. Good drinks, and the staff here is wonderful!
Always a great time. I will have to try the food here next time, but the menu looks pretty good. There are slot machines, video games, and a great jukebox as well.

We went for lunch after a recommendation of a friend. The appetizer we ordered was very good. (Chicken Tenders) $$$ The main entrees were Fish Sandwich and Ribeye sandwich. Fish was scant. 1 piece on a hoagie roll. Ribeye sandwich – Fatty and gristle and was not put on a hoagie roll as the menu stated. I asked the server about this and she said the cook said it was on a hoagie roll. It was not. I will not be returning…

I was hopeful because usually these roadside bars have great food. I’m not opposed to giving it another try, but it was meh. Pulled pork is so sugary I seriously couldn’t eat it and I’m not usually picky at all. Sides do not come with, order seperately. That said, the service was pretty good. Bartender kept an eye on me and was quick to respond. Average atmosphere of bar that serves food.

Awesome place. Service was amazing they made sure we were well taken care of and hospitable. Steak is the best I’ve had in a long time around the area. Price was fair and well worth it for a well cooked steak. No wait no reservations simply put worth the visit. Saturday night special is 16 ounce steak.

Great place to have a beer hang out and relax or even on a busy night the fun of bands can be a good change. Friendly staff and friendly clientele. Personally, I love the Chicken Philly and the Onion Petals. Would recommend 10/10. Tiffany Dawn and Maggie keep it fun and exciting!!!

We pulled into the lot, and a lady stated,’the pork tenderloin sandwich is their claim to fame’.
Bar food is truly different all over. We were really hungry, but afew bar partons were loud and on the verge of rowdy.
We ordered the famous pork tenderloin sandwich.’ Honestly it was good, but nothing award winning. Service was great, especially for a small local bar. (Small town services DO have limits you know. You gotta take what you get. Cool bartender.
