New favorite chicken sandwich! Like most things in life…..you get tend to get what you pay for. Don’t be fooled by the fast food counter and decor. This place isn’t just another chicken sandwich joint. I think most people might get a little sticker shock from the near $20 lunch combo price, but once you take a bite….you’ll understand. You would easily pay that for a comparable lunch at any pub or restaurant…..and more often than not….the quality and flavor won’t be nearly as good. The manager Al was great. As it was our first time into a Haven Hot Chicken, he gave us a sample of the chicken to try and later checked in with us to make sure we had enjoyed our meal. Very friendly service. Excellent quality chicken….and fries…..and banana pudding. Just be careful with the spice levels. Medium at Haven is easily a HOT anywhere else. I enjoyed it, but I’m glad that Al warned me and I didn’t opt for their version of hot. Will definitely be going back!!

I ordered takeout from here a few months ago. It was my first time trying this location but I had tried the New Haven location before. When I ordered from the New Haven location, I got medium level spice tenders and there was barely any heat. So when I tried this location, I got the hot tenders instead. There was definitely some heat. My mouth was burning and my nose was running. But, there wasn’t any flavor. It was just straight pepper powder and I didn’t enjoy that. If there was some flavor, it would have tasted better. The chicken was fresh and juicy and the pickles were delicious. I also got a side of mac and cheese which was really good. Overall, I don’t think this place is for me. If I were to order here again it would be for the mac and cheese.

This place desperately needs some good reviews so here I am, but not without good reason. Upon entering, I wasn’t a big fan of how the place looked or was maintained. They will catch up packets on the floor and the kitchen behind the cashier looked pretty messy, but I thought what can I expect of a fast food place. The food itself was very tasty although I’m not sure they hefty prices are justified Kevin. It’s just chicken in a roll with some sauce where we were pleasantly surprised is that the manager came out to ask how the food is which we weren’t expecting. He actually went around and asked everyone if everything was OK and if they needed anything. Clearly, he’s trying to make amends with his customers. Credit where credit due.

I see this as a perfect example of small chain punching above its weight. Really good sandwich and chicken. Much better than all the big restaurants that focus on chicken i.e Popeyes, church’s, KFC, Chick fil a, raising cains . If I were to guess why they are really good it’s probably the sourcing of their chicken is really good. If they ever broke out of Connecticut their quality would probably drop really hard.
This is also the only chicken place we’re I would say don’t buy any sauce and just eat the chicken/sandwich without it. The chicken stands on its own in terms of flavor. Can’t say that about all the other chicken spots were their special sauce is sometimes a given to get any flavor.
I want to say I wish there are more locations but I’m sure if they were more widespread they would just be another big chain with chicken that isn’t as good as it is now.

Rotten banana pudding that smelled rancid and tasted moldy????? The picture I attached is BEFORE MIXING. Brown bananas rotten dairy and coagulated pudding. I’m going to throw up, there has been a rotten taste in my mouth ever since I ate one bite.

Haven Hot Chicken is “good” but it is not “$20 good”. With high expectations due to the surrounding hype. Opted for the fries with shake on top and the mild spice chicken sandwich along with a drink. While the fries were fresh and generously seasoned, they lacked salt to my taste. The chicken sandwich was tasty but priced at $13, which seems steep, especially for a location near a college campus. A student discount or more affordable options would be appreciated. The drink, initially a starry, was unbalanced due to excessive sparkling water, but the Pepsi was good. While I personally find the $20 price tag for a meal a bit high, the chicken sandwiches are undeniably delicious. The place was clean and well-decorated, although the loud music was a bit overwhelming. Overall, a great experience, but be prepared to spend some money.

First off walked in and was greeted by a great team. The menu was explained to a T and we were even given a sample to make sure we chose the right heat level. The chicken is amazing way better than wingstop . Crunchy ,juicy, delicious and SPICY LOL, EVERYTHING IS GREAT WE WILL BE BACK

We’ve been to 5 of the 7 Haven Hot locations now, and Newington did not disappoint! I tried their new limited-time garlic parm sandwich, which was delicious that I hope they add it to the menu permanently! We also enjoyed the Mac bowl, and even though my fiancé ordered it pretty spicy, the sweat heat and cheese sauce cut it to a level that I could even tolerate it at. I liked that this location has more seating than a lot of the others – I might even make the drive out to this one just because of that!

This was my second time visiting. The first time I got the chicken and waffles the tenders were really big and was very happy with my portion especially paying almost 24 bucks (upgraded to the Mac and cheese as a side) this past visit, the tenders were noticeably smaller which was disappointing. I could tell you that the Haven hot chicken in Middletown is way better than this location. This one’s by Central Connecticut State University and the service was super slow. The person at the counter had no personality at all. My wife had to go up to get salad dressing for her salad that was left behind, he forgot to give us four knives, and she asked that the pickled cabbage be put on the side and was never given to her at all. The credit card and Apple Pay didn’t work and they wanted me to type in my credit card number into the keypad, which I felt was kind of odd so I opted for cash. Not too happy with this location. Awful experience. I asked for spicy chicken and the sauce was very uneven on the breading.
