We only waited maybe 10 minutes and about fifteen minutes to get the food.
We both went with the Southern Style three piece tender plate or in my case multiple pieces. I got the Pimento Mac & cheese & Baked Beans. She got the Black Eyes Pea Salad & Crinkle Cut Fries.
It’s fast food fried chicken imo but it’s really good. Yes, it’s a chain, but it’s a try it once and if you like it go back again thing. I really like the chicken and got southern style. Crispy and crunchy, it’s just that crazy good flavor so I get it when I can. Like Waffle House you go if you don’t have one in your area and seriously everywhere in America needs a Waffle House especially after midnight when you get kicked out of the bar and know you are going to have hell of a hangover kind of day.
Anyhoo, the Pimento Mac and Cheese is a nice comfort food and it’s a good side. The baked beans tasted like a can of beans they forgot to bake. They were really bland. Not my jam. We both like the crinkle cut fries. That Black Eyed Pea Salad had a helluva lot going on with all the flavors. Was interesting, but not for me.
Always stop at Hattie’s it’s just good.
Ordered at the counter and food came quickly after we sat down. The hot heat wasn’t quite as hot as expected. Medium was pretty much unnoticeable.
Experience matched our expectations but didn’t blow us away in any way. Would go back for some quick chicken!
Ordering wasn’t the problem — the seating was. After we got our food, we waited close to 40 minutes just to find a table. It’s basically a “stand behind someone eating and hope they leave soon” situation, then you have to grab the table before someone else does. That part was honestly the most frustrating.
For food, we tried the “Shut the Cluck Up” spice level and got both the sandwich and the tenders at the same level. The sandwich was good, but since it comes with slaw/salad, it kinda tones the heat down. The tenders were a different story — that’s where we really felt the true spice level.
One positive: the staff was really good. Even with how busy it was, they were patient and helpful.
Overall, I’m glad we tried it once, but the crowd and lack of seating made it more tiring than expected. If you’re coming, go earlier/off-peak or just be ready to wait.
The service at the counter was friendly and helpful, the staff continually came around to collect garbage and ask how things were tasting.
The food was top notch. The three of us got varying spice levels and there is a noticeable difference between medium and hot. I would err on the lower side of the scale unless you’re feeling mildly adventurous. The sides we got were all great. Those included the pimento mac and cheese and potato salad.
Don’t take my word for it, try Hattie’s alongside Princes (located above Hattie’s in the Assembly Food Hall) and decide for yourself, but for me it was no contest.
I ordered a fried chicken sandwich, medium heat, with a side of pimento mac & cheese and a Jack Daniels & Coke icee. I paid and they gave me a number tag.
There was a bit of a wait for the food, but when it came and I ate it, it was worth that wait. I would say that medium heat might be classified as high heat at some establishments. It had quite the kick, but it was delicious. I really enjoyed the sandwich. Every single bite had juicy chicken and I liked the pickles or cole slaw that was inside. I got a side of ranch to drizzle over each bite and that was fantastic. I think I might have liked the mac & cheese more than the sandwich. It was perfect and so flavorful.
