Very good sushi and drinks. Service is excellent and matching of the Japanese-styled decor.

What keeps it from a 5 start experience is that some fish cuts were underwhelming. Also, an issue with a cocktail could have been resolved properly by remaking it rather than trying to fix it by adding ingredients after it was already tasted.

We went for dinner to the omakase experience of Haru, which the intimate, bar seating, full set menu of this sushi restaurant.

It was indeed a exquisite experience, tasted a lot of different & local fishes and the tuna was also to die for. The only thing that I could point out was that we were a bit rushed out around 9pm. Perhaps for a second service. Otherwise, loved the experience!

Literally the best sushi EVER!!! I ordered the Filedelphia roll and the sushi platter for 1 person and all of it was amazing! Everything is incredibly fresh and it was so cool to sit at the sushi bar and watch everything being made. I highly recommend this place!

Edit: Came back again today and food was spectacular! I had the scallops and Filadelphia roll and my sister got steak and grilled veggies. Yummy!!

While visiting Rio, we have the opportunity to visit Haru. We were able to book a slot for dinner and they offered us to sit on the counter. The experience was really nice, we were able to see the cooks prepare not only our dishes but other customer’s orders too.
We had pork gyozas and kimchi as appetizers, which were really good and the combinado mix especial as main dish. All were espectacular, all dishes tasted really good and the plate presentation was impecable. Visiting Haru is a must if you are staying around Copacabana.

Beautiful restaurante, the waiting wasn’t so bad even though the estimated time was one hour, but actually was about 25 minutes.
The stuff was so kind and welcoming and the timing of the meals was exceptional, came really fast and once we were done they replaced the next meal

The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our waiter gave us great recommendations and we loved all the food. Especially the special ebi roll and the truffle tuna. Best sushi in Rio and would definitely come back.

I went to Haru on a friend’s recommendation on my last night in Rio, and it was everything I expected. The food was beyond delicious, fairly priced, and Paulo was an amazing server. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Rio.

I had high hopes for this place but wow did they fall short on every level. We sat at the bar in front of the open kitchen. Cooks were not hygienic, just watching them made me want to leave. The quality of the fish was subpar. Taste and texture left me feeling questionable about what I just consumed. Service was not good and the food took a very long time to arrive. We ordered two dishes and decided to leave because we felt like the chances of getting sick here with a raw product were high. I don’t know how Michelin can recommended this place. Far better sushi at Gurume. That would be my recommendation.

TLDR: Recommend coming to this restaurant.

Looking for a good Japanese place in Rio de Janeiro, I came upon this restaurant. Although it was great, it was a bit underwhelming compared to what the other reviews would suggest.

We arrived shortly before it opens at 12h and were seated within the first 5’. In terms of food, sushi and sashimi were fresh and tasty but the ramen is just ok (broth did not taste very rich; it is a sushi bar after all). Staff was friendly all around and the atmosphere was good.

We ordered the following dishes for 3 people for lunch:
– 3 Friend Tuna Balls (costs extra, was not well communicated to us)
– 1 Chef‘s Special Sushi & Sashimi (38 piece)
– 1 Chef‘s Special Sashimi (33 piece)
– 1 Shoyu Ramen

Sorry, I’m not into taking pictures. I’m more into enjoying the moment, the food, and being fully present. But I have to say, this place almost made me want to take photos.

Reservations for big groups seem almost impossible. Somehow, by pure luck, we got in at lunch time. And I’m so glad we did.

When you first walk in, it feels like early morning at a fish market everyone moving fast, busy, focused. Then you go upstairs and the whole ambience changes. Shoji doors separate the rooms, and each space has its own personality. Some rooms have old-school Japanese art, others have bold, almost “Brazilian” screaming colors. It’s something you can’t fully explain in words — you have to experience it. The lighting is so perfect and dramatic that everything feels staged, like you’re about to watch a show.

And then the food starts the real show.

We ordered the local sashimi because we love seeing how chefs apply omakase techniques using local produce. It was brilliant. Creative, clean, and very well executed. You can feel the respect for tradition but also the confidence to adapt it locally.

We loved it. Definitely worth the experience.
