It truly is down home. Cafeteria style service, with all your Southern favorites like chicken and dumplings, chicken fried steak, mac n cheese, collard greens, homemade rolls, and cornbread. Exceptional staff, friendly and fast. Good tea, too. Complete line of homemade desserts, I had coconut cream pie and my daughter had lemon marange, both were outstanding. I’ll go back for sure!

I love a good meat and three and this one is very good. Fried chicken and beef tips and rice was on the menu. It varies from day to day. It does not have the selection of Niki’s West but who does? Food was tasty and the wait staff was attentive. The Owner or manager was wandering around checking on everything and occasionally filling a water glass. Made me feel special.

Hartley’s used to be a 5-star experience, hands down! But the cook must have changed. Service and atmosphere are still very special, but the food was not as seasoned and tasty as it was. My last three visits were a little disappointing. This is a cafeteria style restaurant, which I don’t mind at all. Best day to go for hot food is Sunday after church (will be a crowd).

If you are looking for down home Southern Style cooking then you will find this small diner nestled at the foot of Double Oak Mountain Hwy 280. Service is always awesome, the food is good. Make sure if you are traveling through Chelsea, don’t miss the last chance for a good meat and three for another 30 miles this side of the mountain. Try the desserts they are tasty as well.

Went there hoping to find some fried chicken. Got there around 7pm. No chicken. Cold fried shrimp and cold mac and cheese. Cobbler was warm but too much nutmeg. Disappointing to say the least. Really was hoping this place was as good as the many reviews I read. Guessing either it has gone downhill or people have no taste buds. Probably won’t be back .

I was greeted by the hottest and informed that it was cafeteria style. Well, let me just tell you. It was delicious! There are many delicious downhome options to choose from. I got the vegetable plate with some delicious cornbread muffins. The greens, green beans, pinto beans, and okra were cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Next time that I visit Chelsea, I will be stopping in here again. The service was amazing. Even the staff is well seasoned in their friendliness and their uniform is equipped with contagious smiles.

This is a great family run restaurant that has a down-home welcome feel and offers service with a smile. Their serving line offers a number of meats vegetables and desserts all of which are delicious! You can’t beat their fried catfish and slaw!

Cafeteria style restaurant. Food was delicious just like homemade, very clean and service was great. They have recently opened another location in Columbiana on Main Street in the old Bernie’s location. Would definitely recommend everyone who loves good comfort food to visit either location. You won’t be disappointed,nor will you leave hungry!
