First time visitor. Great artisan food creations. Flavors all worked well together. Stand out was the Ahi Tuna Nachos. Pricey, but you are on an island serving locally sourced food. Will return for special occasions. And next time we will sit outside instead of inside, as long as it’s not a humid day of course. Beautiful setup inside old school house.

What an amazing find! The food is prepared from scratch. All ingredients are fresh and cooked to perfection. The service is great and the atmosphere is very relaxed. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and the weekend when the weather allows; they do brick oven pizza; which you should not miss! The outdoor seating reminds me of ranch dinners in California. They always have special events and special menu items especially at the weekend. I highly recommend that you make reservations before you go because the place gets very busy.

The food here is amazing. I’ve never had a bad meal. The chef creates really good daily specials. Great place to visit if you are visiting Harsen’s Island.

Did takeout for dinner while visiting Harsens Island for a long weekend. The perch was light and crispy and the tarter sauce was homemade. Loved the rosemary chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Also has the clam chowder which was a lighter/thinner New England style that was not too heavy.

If it wasn’t for the sign by the road, it is impossible to even notice this old schoolhouse is actually a restaurant. There are very few places to sit on the inside. I was there by myself at 5pm on a summer Saturday, and every table seemed to be already reserved, except a few seats at the bar. The place did fill up very quickly. Ashleigh was my server/bartender, and she did a great job while the other front of house staff seemed to wander around and be of no help. The menu seems small, but they did have a little bit of everything. I had two beers, chicken wings, and fries, and it was around $20. I was in and out very quickly, and if I ever visit the island again, it will definitely be a place to eat… probably the only place anyway.

I was so excited to stop here! I use to live on the island many many years ago. My “uncle” Mack owned the marina back then. I went to this school. I need to go back and explore. Great lunch my daughter and I had here. Thanks for the memories!

We went the the Schoolhouse Grill for a birthday party. The owners bought this old elementary school and converted it to a restaurant. When we arrived we first met one of the owners and she explained to us the history of the school. The dining rooms are decorated to keep some of that history alive. Although we ate food was prepared just before our arrival, it was good food. The staff was very friendly and we had a very nice time. It’s definitely a restaurant to visit again.

OMG! The burger was awesome!!!! My wife had the perch sandwich and liked hers just as much. Great service, the Owner is so personable and our food came out in about 10 minutes. Winter or Summer, the food and service remain unchanged!!!!

You’ll need to hop on the ferry to get here, but it’s well worth the trip. The food is excellent, prices are reasonable, and the setting is beautiful, classic island charm. There aren’t many dining options on Harsens, just a few drive-up spots, but this one stands out as my favorite. If you’ve got time, make a full lap around the island—there’s a small downtown strip that’s worth checking out, too. Great spot for a relaxed day trip.
