We placed our order and sat down. Within just a minute or so heard an employee on the opposite side of the dining room cussing up a storm on her cell phone to whoever she was speaking to. My wife stood up and walked over to her and said “Excuse me, can you take your phone call outside? I have young children, and they don’t need to hear this.” The employee threw her hand up and said “nah”. She then laughed and told the person on the phone there was no problem and continued with her vulgar conversation.
At this point my wife called for the manager and told her what happened. The manager moped her way to the dining room and began to console the employee asking if she was okay. Never once asked her to leave the room, never offered to comp a meal or return our purchase which we had not gotten at this point.
The employee began to tear up and say that my wife and I were harassing her and that she didn’t leave because we didn’t ask nicely. She kept saying “you didn’t know me. I guess that meant she didn’t have to think about her actions. The employee then asked whoever was on the phone to come get her because my wife and I were acting “all crazy”.
Absolutely ridiculous and you can bet that I won’t support that business again.
As a former hiring manager, I hope that Hardee’s takes this encounter seriously and reviews it. If it were my business, I would refer my employee to further training on how to handle this sort of situation properly and I would terminate the employee due to the extent that she went.
Next stop is a letter to their corporate office. I did have the manager reimburse me for my purchase and asked that they cancel my order. No apologies or any sort of remorse other than the employee who took the order, and she had nothing to do with the altercation. She deserves recognition.
