Cook also served. I asked for eggs over medium. Not many get it right. She did. Only reason for no 5 star is that surfaces were sticky: table top, salt and pepper shakers, napkin dispenser.

Been here twice and the food is good. Today i got the fried catfish with slaw and black eyed peas. I loved the peas and slaw. The catfish was so, so good and didn’t need anything but a little hot sauce on each bite.

This was our 2nd time here – both times for breakfast. I don’t recall the 1st time but it must have been good enough for my wife and I to come back. Today’s breakfast was not too good and expensive. The gravy, eggs, and bacon were fine. The biscuits were very dark. So with drinks the total was $24 for biscuit and gravy with sausage and a plate with biscuit, gravy, eggs, and bacon.

The food is amazing. I had chicken and dressing with gravy, black eyed peas, turnip greens and cabbage. My husband had hamburger steak with the same veggies. The dressing was like my grandmother used to make. Soooo good. Black eyed peas and turnip greens and top notch. Husband loved his hamburger steak and he is a conasseur of hamburger steak, lol. This is like going to a southern family reunion with all your favorite family foods. My husband even went back to the kitchen to give them a fist bump. I would share pictures but it is all gone.

We will be back again! Small cafe ran by the sweetest people. Food was amazing. Best greens I’ve had in a long time. Chicken stuffing was like my mom used to make. Very generous portions.. Home cooked, you can taste the difference. Highly recommend. Side note they stop serving breakfast at 9:30 but the lunches more than made up for a lost breakfast.

Dad and I went by the Hard Hat today after my eye appointment. We both got the meatloaf, two sides, and cornbread. Not only is the food delicious and obviously lovingly prepared, the people who took care of us are gems. We definitely recommend and will go back!

I’d be okay if this lunch was my last meal. I enjoyed the pork steak lunch accompanied with black eyed peas, turnip greens and cornbread. The most flavorful, tender pork was the best pork I have ever eaten next to bacon and the corbread was heaven soaked in the juices from the steak and greens. Hard Hat Cafe is a hidden gem for all those missing out. And the sweet tea was good too.
