We had an amazing experience dining at Harborside Restaurant in Captiva Island! I called last minute needing a reservation for a party of 12 to celebrate my daughter birthday and Paola, our hostess, was absolutely incredible. She went above and beyond to accommodate us and made everything feel effortless and welcoming.
The food was outstanding — my favorites were the Sausage Arancini, Burrata & Melon, and Short Rib Ravioli. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented.
The atmosphere, service, and food all exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in Captiva!
We ordered a bottle of red for dinner in advance and asked them to open it for us when the server told us they always open the bottle for us . She didn’t know we were asking them to open it so it could breathe… And even after that request, we had to go to the bar (thank goodness for Alex, he was the only one that had any sense of calm and actually trying to help) to ask for the bottle after our server was flying by with a carafe of water and when we asked her for some water, she poured it in 2 of the 4 glasses and sloshed it to spilling over on the table, then rushed away to the next table.
They served 2 of us our salads in advance and the salads for the other 2 came at the same time as the dinner. While the food was fine, branzino was good, the chicken alla vodka gnocchi sounded promising but didn’t really deliver and we had to ask for more vodka sauce as there was hardly any of the dish.
The atmosphere is great, were really hoping the service and the training gets up to par for future guests.
Sadly, we will not be going back nor recommending it.
We came in with a very basic allergy need, and it was disheartening to feel like third-class citizens simply for explaining that our son cannot have gluten. The lack of understanding and care left us truly disappointed. They did take care of the bottle of wine that we purchased as a way to make amends, and of course we were grateful for that. A nice gesture, but we still left the restaurant wondering if we would ever eat there again.
It gives me no pleasure to write this, as South Seas Island Resort holds a very special place in our hearts. But our first dining experience in this newly refurbished restaurant was so discouraging that I felt compelled to speak up.
