Harbor Social at National Harbor is a very cool and fun restaurant located on the lower level of the Gaylord National Resort atrium. It has a lively atmosphere and is a great spot if you are visiting with a large group or family, especially if you enjoy games or watching sports. The restaurant offers many games, including cornhole and bowling, which makes it more than just a place to eat and helps keep everyone entertained. When we visited, it was very busy, and because of that, the service was a bit slow, which is something to keep in mind if you are on a tight schedule. One highlight of our visit was the $110 family meal deal, which came with two orders of fries, six sliders, six crab cakes, and wings. It was a great value for the amount of food, and I highly recommend it for groups. The food overall was excellent and well prepared, and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. While the crowds made things a little hectic, I think on a less busy day this would be an even better experience. I would gladly come back to Harbor Social again when it is not as crowded.
The restaurant was huge with plenty of seating. Once we sat near the TVs, our server Lorena greeted us with menus and some water. She took the time to recommend drink and food options to try.
I tried the lagoon margarita and crab cake sliders. The margarita was refreshing and the sliders were filled with crab meat and the slaw added a nice crunch. My friend had a Miller light and hummus. For $20, I was not a fan of the hummus since it was very bland.
Our server Lorena was very attentive and constantly checked on us. I noticed she was from El Salvador from her name tag and her her I just visited the country. After a brief chat, we thanked her for a great night. I’d definitely return again and request to sit with her.
The service could use some improvement, as it was a bit slow, but this may have been due to the high volume of patrons that evening. Despite this, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the vibe of the place. We were celebrating a graduation, and it turned out to be a good spot for our group to meet up.
Seating is chaotic. You seat yourself wherever you’d like but there’s no one noticing where you’ve even been seated to attend to you. Just random guesswork. Tables aren’t cleaned off quickly enough to make room for the next party.
I tried one of the Paloma drinks, and it was horrible. All I tasted was like seltzer water that left an aftertaste of sewage water. Tried another Long Island Iced Tea, and again, some horrible seltzer water being used in the mixed drinks. Had to return all drinks to the bar and just ask for a bottled drink. And the tap water tastes terrible too.
Came to enjoy the ICE event and Harbor Social looked like a nice spot, but it’s not a great choice for drinks or for getting served timely. Will make note to self for the next time we visit the ICE event at the Gaylord.
$18 for a grocery store Caesar salad in the plastic takeout container even though youre dining in and plastic utensils.
Service is slow and confusing
Cash isn’t allowed they get upset with you our server disappeared when switching to charging my card. Gave me a pen that didn’t work so it took me a very long time to finalize my check and leave. The service made me nervous about them altering my tip given which I acquiesced 20% but im worried theyll change it
Still, it has a good beat, a lot of staff, and the games are free to play, like billards, shuttle board etc.
During my most recent visit, however, the restaurant was extremely crowded. We had difficulty finding seating, and when we finally did, the table was still covered with trash from the previous party. After waiting and not seeing anyone come by to clean it, I went to the front desk for help. There were three hostesses present, but when I asked how we could get the table cleaned, I was told to “tap someone who was walking around.” That response wasn’t very helpful. A bit more guidance or assistance would have gone a long way, especially given how busy it was.
I understand the staff is young and the environment can get hectic, but customer service in situations like this could definitely be improved. With better communication and attentiveness, this place could continue to be a great experience even during peak times.
