They do have an electronic sign-in wait list at the front, but we didn’t have to wait and were quickly sat at a table. We came for the Dim Sum lunch, which started right away with the wonderful cart service, of the baked/fried, steam, and soup carts. All the staff were very friendly and helpful with all the dishes.
The Dim Sum overall was very good, with all but one of the dishes we had was warm rather than hot. They had run out of the Kalbi beef plate, which the server indicated it would be 7-8 minutes. As time went by, I figured they had forgotten, but to my pleasant surprise it was brought directly to our table steaming hot. Excellent service. The continued service lasted the length of our meal, and we never felt rushed to leave the table.
Overall, the lunch was great, and I would definitely return another day for the Dim Sum lunch. The prices do seem a bit higher than other Dim Sum restaurants, but in for me its worth the friendly service and variety you can receive even on the weekday.
Tips for your visit: If possible, go on a weekday lunch, they still have the cart service and the full variety of choices, and doubtful you will have to wait for a table.
The good:
– The zhong zi were very good.
– HK style egg tarts were yummy, flaky, & not too sweet.
– Dry fried green beans were very flavorful but you had to special order them, they didn’t come on the carts.
– Turnip cakes were pretty good but could use a bit more flavor
Could use improvement:
– The soup dumplings were soggy on the bottom because they were served in little tins.
– The shumai were dry
We went for dinner so can’t comment on dim sum part of food.
The dishes were good for most of that we ordered. And better taste than star kitchen.
Service is definitely much much better than the star kitchen.
They are good for large group where one can share a d sample multiple dishes outside the dim sum.
The Franch steak is worth trying, it’s hard to DIY, the beef is very tender inside (pink meat) and crust outside with good beef and Orion favor.
Class with Basil would have been great if they did not break so many clam shell. (The broken shell pieces were everywhere ruined the favorable dish, otherwise it was very favorable)
The Daikon Briskers clay pot is great for rice (or the monk bean noodle if carry out and reheat at home)
The seafood clay pot is favorable best for dine in .
The ambience feels very upgraded, from the decor to the overall setting, beautifully reflecting traditional Chinese culture. This is a complete make over from the previous place.
The charcoal lava bun was the our highlight, visually striking with its soft black exterior, and once opened, the warm salted egg yolk filling flows out generously. The texture is fluffy on the outside and rich, creamy, and slightly salty-savory inside, making it very satisfying to watch and to eat!
As for the other dim sum dishes, taste really comes down to personal preference, so I won’t compare it with nearby competitors.
Service was friendly. A little more attentive on prompt tea refills and efficient table clearing would have made it perfect. Overall, very nice “Yum Cha” experience. We will be back to try their lunch or dinner dishes.
The place was almost completely packed, and the noises from the conversation at each table, the many carts workers were pushing, and the happy faces on people’s faces as they are eating their food, made me realized this IS the new place in Denver where one can have dim sum and enjoy eating these bite-sized nuggets often filled with variety of meat choices.
The various dishes I ate were delicious. From the siu mai, deep fried tofu, a variety of dumplings, to the salt & pepper shrimp and salt & pepper squid, and even complimentary salted egg custard buns, my table of 9 diners left feeling very satisfied and most importantly, happy. Happy we came to eat, and happy to have nice conversations with each other.
This restaurant is not lack of lighting, and it is nice and clean. Each table has white linen and filled with plates and utensils, ready to welcome to next group of diners.
If you are looking a place to catch up with friends or bringing your family together to have a meal, I believe this restaurant will be perfect for you. Enjoy!
