I absolutely love this place. Their food hits the spot. I’ve had their chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, egg rolls, and cheese wontons. I truly appreciate them having wontons without crab in them. Every time I get their food, the quality and taste are consistent. The service is quick. Even when I get the food delivered, it’s prepared so quickly. They give you enough food for 2 people, so you’ll definitely have leftovers. For $14, you get your money’s worth.
Their food is for takeout only. There’s no place to sit inside. You can order at the window or call it in ahead of time. Your order will usually be ready within 10 to 15 minutes. They do not accept big bills. There’s no restroom available for customers. They do have a small parking lot. You can also park on the street.

I went into Happy Take Out to find out what exactly we can have in our lunch plate. Seems like the lady was just in a rush and she did not wanna wait on us. My husband got the dinner plate, supposed to be salt pepper fried chicken, but it didn’t taste like that. Rice was dry noodles dry like it was cooked together. I ordered the war wonton soup. The soup is great, but the wonton meat tasted like it was about go spoiled. I don’t know if I’ll eat here again

Since I moved to Sac I have been on the search for the holy triangle of Chinese food. Not too far away, not too salty, and absolutely loaded with flavor! They do it right at Happy Takeout. Quick service and you can tell they love food and their customers a TON

Food is made when ordered, the flavors are a clear indication of that.
The chow mein, fried rice, egg roll, walnut shrimp – everything was PERFECTION!

Best wonton soup ever (they use napa cabbage!!). Best cheese wontons. I’m lactose intolerant but I can never leave without adding some to my order. Get one or the other (or both) and even your worst day will become happier.

Happy Place is truly a happy place — these girls are hilarious. The definition of Chinese takeout. There should be a happy place in every city. We got the orange chicken & off menu garlic salt and pepper orange chicken — FIRE. You’ll thank me later. Everything was good — all for $20?!!!! We got crab rangoons and a drink and two lunch specials! It tastes better than it looks!

I want to love this place, I really do. I keep coming back as it’s my local Chinese food spot, but the only thing it’s been consistently good at is being consistently bad. Food is over fried, somehow dry and super oily at the same time, flavorless, just tastes OLD. It can’t even be doctored up at home because it’s so dried out.
Writing this review because I keep giving it a shot and needing the reminder to not come back. Adding a star because they give you good portions, unfortunately those portions are mostly inedible. I also didn’t get the egg roll and wonton in my dinner combo which was disappointing but I imagine those are fairly inedible as well.

My rating is so low based upon the food quality. I ordered the sweet sour chicken, orange chicken, shrimp fried rice an egg rolls. Now my fried rice was great however for the rest it was trash, my sweet sour chicken was soggy, my orange chicken was dry, egg roles was oily an soggy an tasted like they came from Costco.

This place is officially my #1 spot for Chinese food! Wow everything was so yummy! I got the dinner plate with orange chicken and normally I’m able to finish a plate but they serve you a GREAT amount of food so I got full! The prices are perfect and just everything is perfect! It’s more a takeout place than dine in (it’s a small building) but I didn’t mind that at all since I ordered for pick up. Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!
