Happy Mediterranean Restaurant – A Hidden Gem for Delicious …

Waiting time was to be 20 minutes. We waited around 30 minutes which would be understandable but please keep in mind we were the only people there and order was one gyro and a chicken salad.
Unfortunately it was to go so I did not check the food.
For 16 dollars gyro I was expecting something else.. meat was cold, tasteless (as there was nothing in it) completely disgusting. Same goes for the pickled vegetables which looked rotten.
I don’t know how this establishment can have 4.1 star but I DON’T recommend this place!
If you can rather go buy chips in the gas station next door.
The menu at this restaurant is extensive, and it took us around 10 minutes to decide what to order. There is a wide variety of options, including some that were new to us, like Iskender. Half of the menu is dedicated to vegan dishes, which is great for vegans and vegetarians. We decided to try the Shawarma Bowl and Iskender Falafel, and we absolutely loved them. We couldn’t stop eating! The best part is that the prices are unbelievably reasonable. It was our first time trying Iskender, and we think the chef did an excellent job. All the items we tried were delicious, and we could see the dedication in the way they were served. Service was slow, especially for meats and Iskender, we waited for more than 15 min but food was definitely worth the wait.
While we were there, we noticed many people getting takeout orders. The best thing is that there are so many customization options available. Lastly, we ordered a bowl of hummus and pita, and we were amazed by the generous portion size for the price. Keep up the good work! Happy Mediterranean in Lompoc is definitely doing things right.

They’re having a “Soft Opening” so take that into account when coming here. It may take a sec for you to place your order while they learn and optimize the point-of-sale system and kitchen workflows.
As before our food was delicious, they were missing some of the menu items due the soft opening and running out of ingredients. It was no biggie for us because we were ordering a lot. I guess if you’re coming for a specific dish it’s better to call it in to make sure they’ll have it before you come down.
We tried a combo plate which was huge and lovely. My partner loved the beef kabob and the Greek salad. I had a falafel sandwich will was wonderful. We also got a grilled veggie sandwich which was great, lots of deliciousness hiding in each bite. I’m not sure if I like the grilled veg or the falafel more.
The staff here are lovely. They apologized profusely about me waiting my turn to order and about not having items, which was totally unnecessary, but it shows their humility and appreciation of their customers.
The restaurant is looking cute already with a big chandelier and a tiled outdoor dining area. They have nice propane heaters for the cool nights and this patio will be awesome in summer time.
They had some lovely classic rock playing while I waited and I got to hear Rolling Stones and other favorites.
One of the workers brought me fresh bread right out of the oven to snack on while I waited for my order and it was delicious. Our family loves this place and we’ll be coming back often.
My original post: I can’t really review the service or the place because someone just brought home a sandwich for me, but that sandwich was amazing. I can’t wait to go here again. I think what I tried was the fried veggie sandwich. It was stuffed, saucy and complex. I loved every bite!
The place has these nice big windows where you can see the whole kitchen. We sat and watched our food prepared while we waited because there was nothing else to do. We both have experience in kitchens, working both front of house and kitchen, so we are familiar with food safety.
There was a single employee working the kitchen and as I watched her, she stopped assembling salads, went over, handled raw meat, and without changing gloves or washing hands, went back to assembling salads.
I walked over and told the manager what I saw. She took it very seriously. She made the girl throw out the salads, wash, and re-glove before making our food fresh. The girl was real mad but she did it.
It was delicious, the food was 4.5 stars, but sadly I will never eat there again. If I feel I have to watch the food being prepared to make sure they are following the most basic of food safety guidelines, I would prefer to make my own food at home.
