I ding because it is taken out only. I grew up with the arcade and ice cream parlor. But this place for taco pizza and Canadian Pizza still rocks. Whenever I am in Iowa I look to see if any place is close by.
Soon there won’t be many left but enjoy the unique taco pizza if you can. It’s an acquired taste.

Whoever was making the pizzas yesterday for lunch (Feb. 19th) did an awesome job!!! Ordered for delivery. Asked for extra sauce on the all meat pizza & they did it for us! Also, asked for extra taco packets for the taco pizza & they did it too. The pizza was great! Hot pizza & fast delivery! Thank you!!! Will order again. Kudos to the pizza maker!

Scan the QR code for offer limited to this location. The bacon pizza was good. The employee seemed to like the franchise owner and his job talking up their other pizza choices as well as promoting future deals. I got the free 1-topping but plan to come back to try their other specials.

Nearly every time we order online here we are missing something from the order or the pizza is missing ingredients. Recently we ordered a large half sausage and mushroom and half sausage and pepperoni. There was no sausage on in the pizza. Another time we ordered for pickup and they said it wasn’t ready and 10 minutes later they handed us a pizza box that had been in the window since we walked in. We got outside and realized it wasn’t ours. We took it back in and the grabbed ours from the warmer under the counter. Another time I ordered a 2 liter Pepsi with my pizza and I didn’t get it. When the pizza is correct, we enjoy it but this location is just terribly inconsistent. Too bad it’s the only one in the Des Moines area.

I grew up in Bettendorf where Happy Joes has always been a household name in the community. While this location lacks the classic parlor format and the joegurt, the Taco pizza I got was just as great as I remember from my childhood!

Usually enjoy happy joes grew up eating it.last few times have been terrible. Once they had to call ran out of bacon. Like they couldn’t go buy some from a store. Last night no taco sauce with taco pizza chips stale. Took well over 1hr. Must’ve changed sauce way worse. Blt no mayo anymore. Just bad. I see doordash and Uber eats recent reviews also show this place has been going severely downhill the last yr round so. Time to find a new pizza spot i guess. So so bad.

Ordered a barbecue pizza two weeks ago and it was amazing. Ordered it today, September 30 and supposedly the ingredients have changed and you put ground beef instead of the shredded because you didn’t have any but didn’t tell anybody. IA bate and switch is not acceptable. Your staff should’ve told people that things have changed instead of wasting $27 on a pizza that you did not expect

I was saddened to see this great place reduced to a carryout. This is the best pizza in Iowa. Their taco pizza is a staple of our cuisine. How did we let Domino’s and Pizza Hut take over what should be a Happy Joe’s town?

If zero was an option I’d use it. Absolutely terrible experience start to finish. Maybe not train the new guy on taking phone orders on a Saturday night during the state fair. Which I don’t blame the kid too much Absolutely trash wings pretty sure they were accidentally coated in buffalo sauce. Then coated in bbq to prevent having to do them over. Regardless i could barely eat one wing. I’m not one to complain often. But this place is garbage. I would rather eat little Caesars. Either way your food managed to take away our appetite. Skip the ranch too. Tasted liked Kraft ranch. The garlic cheese bread was a hit. But I’d assume it’s just hyvee Texas toast but that was the highlight
