So I hesitantly thought to order something simple, to eat in.
The restaurant only had one other customer, but it was probably due to the odd time of day. They had a very robust menu that is not reflected accurately on this site. But with my thinking of keeping it simple, I ordered the chicken finger Plate, with pork fried rice and an eggroll. It was a little over $11. I took a seat in the very clean and quaint dining room, nothing close to what has been depicted in many older reviews. The bathroom was immaculately clean too. The ordering process, at the front counter, was quick and easy. Again, in contrast to many of the reviews, the staff was very welcoming, and willing to make modifications as desired.
When I received my plate, as depicted in photo, it was a substantial serving for the money. The chicken fingers were lightly coated large pieces of white meat. The egg roll was mostly cabbage, but above average. The fried rice had a good amount of chunky pork pieces and also was well made.
While this isn’t gourmet, it sure is the best option I have come across in this area and well worth the money. I look forward to trying some expanded selection such as teriyaki shrimp. I’m glad I took the risk and hopefully and finally have a go to place
The staff’s rudeness was palpable from the moment I entered the establishment. They made no effort to greet or assist me, and their body language conveyed a sense of annoyance. When I tried to ask questions about the menu, I was met with curt, dismissive responses that left me feeling unwelcome. It was as though they couldn’t be bothered to provide basic customer service. Moreover, their indifference extended to the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the place.
The tables were sticky, and it was evident that they hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. The floors were dirty, and there was visible grime on the walls. The restroom was even worse, with a strong odor and a complete lack of basic hygiene supplies.
The most concerning aspect was the state of the kitchen, which was partially visible from the dining area. It appeared chaotic and disorganized, with little regard for proper food safety standards. This raised serious concerns about the quality and safety of the food being prepared.
Overall, the staff’s rudeness and the unsanitary conditions at “Happy Garden” created an extremely uncomfortable and unappetizing dining experience. It’s essential for any restaurant to prioritize cleanliness, customer service, and food safety, and unfortunately, this establishment fell woefully short in all these aspects. How are these people still in business. Seriously
