I really had high hopes for this place. I have wanted to go for a while. clean little shop. nice staff. not speady service so plan ahead but it is made to order. biggest complaint is shrimp cooked and served without peeling it so most of the flavor was lost when pealed. Pork had good flavor but was very wet and soupy. Chicken was OK but had no unique or distinct special flavor just fried pieces of chicken and rice was just plain white rice. it is not served with any sauce. Compared to what I have had in Hawaii or at some chains this was just OK not bad just ok. I always love the smaller independent shops but sadly this was nothing special.

We got a few plates, the garlic chicken was pretty dry and had a old oil taste, the kalbi was very good, the poke was good, the shrimp was bland to us. The mac was just ok The malasadas were ok. We were a bit disappointed with all the ads we been seeing for this place. Might come back for the kalbi, we usually getting hawaiin suns or aloha drinks when eating this food but they only had soda.

Newly opened Hawaiian place just off the 51 and Shea. They do have other locations, one is downtown Phoenix in the Churchill.
Made to order, hot and fresh.
Kalbi Ribs, garlic chicken, shrimp and Kahlua Pork with Macaroni salad sides.
Everything we had was fresh and good!
They also have Poke nachos and bowls.
The servings are large, they have a few desserts and a cooler with soda and juices.
Nice addition to the Sheaborhood.

The best Hawaiian food in Phoenix! Everything they make is so good. From the garlic punch of the garlic shrimp to the char of the Kalbi. To the best malasadas I’ve ever had! This place rocks! Even the poke nachos are amazing!

First time at Hapa and it assuredly won’t be the last. Arguably THE best kalbi ribs I’ve ever had with that sweet teriyaki flavor but not overbearing one bit. Meat was tender and pulled off the bone easily. I also went with the garlic shrimp which, too, was outstanding. As part of the combo plate, there were four jumbo shrimp- fresh as can be- just swimming in a pool of garlic butter goodness that I later used over my white rice. My order was made to order and took about ten minutes to cook and then maybe 1 1/2 minutes to devour. 🙂

All in all, Hapa screams quality, authentic Hawaiian if that sort of thing is your jam. Today, it absolutely was mine!

Staff are really nice, however food is just okay. Garlic chicken is too sweet, kalua pig was a little salty, but the kalbi is not too bad. Their prices seem pretty high. Also please be aware that they charge an additional $1.00 “card processing fee” – I did not see any signs or warning about this extra fee for paying with a card.

About a 15 minute wait for our food to be ready to go, but it is made to order. Ordered the garlic chicken plate, kalbi plate, and poke nachos. The kalbi and chicken are flavorful, tender, and delicious and both were served with a generous helping of rice and a scoop of Mac salad. The poke nacho chips were still crisp after the drive home and tasted great. 10/10 will be returning.

The owner was amazing very friendly and really cares about her customers. And they dont rush you when your eating when they are getting ready to close they actually let you finish your meal and dont kick you out when they are closed. And the food was the best Hawaiian food I ever had. Definitely check this place out you wont be disappointed. And the desert cake was amazing too. Thanks again for an excellent experience. Will definitely make this my new go to spot for the best Hawaiian food ever.
