We ordered the Beef Pho, Chicken Satay Skewers and a Pad Thai. The pho and skewers came out within about 20 minutes, but the Pad Thai took over 40 minutes and still hadn’t arrived. When we asked the waitress, she was surprised it hadn’t been served yet and quickly checked with the kitchen.
When the Pad Thai finally came out, it was vegetarian instead of the seafood Pad Thai we ordered. The waitress was lovely and very apologetic, but the long wait, the mix-up, and the forgotten order were disappointing.
That being said, the food we did receive was absolutely sensational — full of flavour and really well made.
Overall, great food but the service during our visit definitely needs improvement.

My partner and I have found our new place to eat. The food here is always amazing without fail. The salt and pepper squid is simply the best in all of Melbourne.! I wanted to reach out and say thank you to our waitress is so lovely every time we visit. Highly recommend this beautiful restaurant

We had a wonderful experience dining at Hanoi Lotus. The food was absolutely delicious and exceeded our expectations. The salt and pepper squid was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, seasoned just right. The Vietnamese pancake was golden, light, and packed with flavour—especially good with the fresh herbs and dipping sauce. The noodle salad was vibrant, refreshing, and had a great balance of textures and flavours.
Portion sizes were generous, and everything was very reasonably priced, making it great value for money. The service was warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. It’s clear the staff take pride in what they do. We’ll definitely be back—this place is a hidden gem for anyone who enjoys authentic Vietnamese cuisine done well.

The reply from Hanoi Lotus is not adequate: I ordered SOUP and what came in a container was a thick gelatinous jelly. My mother ordered a soup and got soup. I got jelly with frozen vegetables.
I just ordered a vegetable soup with thin egg noodles and what I received was abhorrent. I received FROZEN VEGETABLES in a JELLY. The thin egg noodles came on the side which is the normal for asian takeaway but then in a small container was a thick gel with absolutely disgusting frozen vegetables. I was absolutely gobsmacked at how a place could do this. How does soup = jelly?

Extremely disappointed as this is one of our favourite restaurants but this has happened twice now. We explicitly asked for no peanuts because of my partners allergies. And yet we find crushed peanuts in the dish once we arrived home, can’t even call to complain because the phones always unavailable. If this happened at the restaurant and she didn’t have her medication this could’ve been a real serious issue.

Thank you for great dinner out we started late to eat but was soo worth it…the whole duck was mouth watering just couldn’t wait to eat was soo delicious ! The service was amazing always there to assist if we needed anything.
