Hannosuke is in a food court inside the most wonderful Japanese Market in Los Angeles. There are several places to eat there and a lot of seating to be had. Parking is easy in their huge lot. We go there a lot. We often get take away, but we have eaten there several times.
We love their food. Their prices are fair and you get what you pay for. They make it fresh there so it is never cold or dried out. They have some of the best shrimp tempura we have had. It is just as good as fine dinning. The shrimp are a good size and the batter is perfect, never just too much batter. Their rice is great and we really love the dumplings.
You can order this as a meal, the menu is on the wall. They have a great selection of dishes. I always change my up. I just want tempura, not the fried veg. The dumplings are great as is. It is all great.
The table you sit at is kept clean by someone I assume the food court shares.
Now, the bad news. The service here is just beyond rude, unhelpful and this is always the way it is when we are there. We have been maybe 10 times. It is always the same woman who just wants nothing to do with you. She sits behind a dirty, thick glass and if you try to talk to her, have fun. She will point to the wall, have you look to the note on the counter that says “here” and “To go”. She really wants you to order from this tablet. I do have to speak to her to tell her all shrimp tempura, no veg. She does not respond. Now, she can talk and she does speak English. She is just so very rude and I guess hates her job. Anyway, you get a bill, you pay her and you get a number. When your food is ready you go get it. Now, she can pull this all off so rudely, never with a smile. She is just not a nice person.
But suck it up. The food is worth it.
alway’s a long wait. reason why i didn’t give 5 star is due to their lack of system on order’s meaning you wont know when your food is ready you have to stand there and wait for number calling. can wait for 30+ minute’s sometimes that’s the only issue i dont like other then that is a great spot for tempura
This Hannosuke is located in the food court of Mitsuwa Japanese grocery.
I had the Shrimp Tendon for $16.48. There are 4 shrimp tempura, soft boiled egg, seaweeds, pumpkin and pepper on top of the rice.
The service was outstanding (I am not sure what the gracious woman who was working there today’s name was), but she was quick, friendly, and pleasant.
Pairing the tempura with their soba noodles is a match made in heaven. The soba is served chilled with a dipping sauce or hot in a comforting broth, offering a versatile and satisfying complement to the tempura. The noodles are cooked to the ideal firmness, showcasing the restaurant’s dedication to authenticity and quality.
