Very good food. We got two samosas, the goat and basmati dish and the chicken and jollof rice. Everything was amazing. We also got the hibiscus drink and baobab drink. Very refreshing. As an FYI, Trust the GPS to get there, I almost missed the building

This place is absolutely a gem. The food is a homemade food you feel like your favorite mama’s cooking. I came with my friend to try Somali food for the first time and what a pleasant experience it was. The owner/chef greeted us with a welcoming smile and explained the menu items for us. We end up having goat meat and fish with rice. For appetizers we had samosa which was 10/10 and mashed potatoes with egg and for drinks we had hibiscus. I’m telling you everything was perfect the food and place and the people. I’m definitely coming again next time visiting Cincinnati.

Hanilul Kitchen is a Somalian Food restaurant that serves some pretty unique and delicious foods. All of which is Zabiha Halal. We were greeted right away by a really nice gentleman who answered all our questions about menu items and helped us order.
I tried the drink called Bissap which was made from hibiscus flowers and mint. It was very refreshing and went well with the food.
We tried the Somali Sambusa appetizer which was a filled crispy pastry pocket with shredded seasoned beef, onion and seasoning blend. They were really good. We then ordered the Chicken Suqaar which was thinly sliced chicken breast, onions, exotic spices with red and green peppers. It was served with a fragrant Somali rice.

All the food was delicious, service excellent and ambience was fun and unique. Don’t be scared to try this place. You’ll be surprised by the food. The menu is simple but the food is prepared fresh, has unique spices (not hot) and will satisfy your appetite!

We really enjoyed our meal! The employees were so nice. I had a lamb dish, Amy had Chicken Sugaar. They were both delicious. The appetizer was super yummy too.

These small, local businesses have some of the best food in NKY. Stop in. Try some!

I need to go back for the banana butter milk shake myself!

We wanted something different for dinner and that’s what we got. Food was very tasty and our server extremely nice. If you are a picky eater this place is not for you. My wife had their pasta which was very good. I had the goat and rice. The rice was super tasty, but the goat was a bit tough or chewy for my liking. I would recommend at least trying this place if you’re feeling adventurous.

The food was delicious. Good flavor. Loved the tea with milk (shaah adays), sambusa, maffe, chicken suqaar (I got extra vegetables) and another Senegalese dish with chicken and onions I can’t remember the name of. The dibi also tastes good but was sometimes pretty gristly. The bathrooms weren’t clean. I would be curious what the atmosphere would be like if they had Somali or Senegalese music.

Hidden gem. This restaurant has both Senegalese and Somali menu items. The sambusas (samosas) are flavorful. For the main dishes, We tried the chicken suqaar and beef suqaar. The dishes were well presented with plenty of rice pilaf , salad and meat. The spices aren’t overwhelming so if you like spicy ask for their homemade chili sauce. It really adds a nice flavor to the meal. They have several homemade drinks such as bouye( made from the baobab fruit), bissap (hibiscus), lemonade and mango. They were out of chapatis and mandazi the day we went so maybe call ahead if you would like to try these. The dining room is spacious. They do a lot of carry out so if you’re looking for a place that’s not too crowded where you can have good conversation, this is it. The service can be a little slow but be patient with them. They are friendly and helpful if you don’t understand a menu item. It is worth it! It is great to support local entrepreneurs!

We came here for lunch at around 1pm and there was no one there to take our order.
After some waiting, help finally arrived and they definitely made up for the delay. The food was delicious, the service was good, and the lady at the counter gave us free spiced tea as we were leaving (the tea was also delicious).
Heads up, the food here is Somalian, and the prevailing language here is not English. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re in the mood for authentic African fare then this is the place!

The service was subpar, when I walked in nobody arrived to attend me. After 5 minutes of waiting I had to ring the bell for someone to show up. Additionally, I ordered the Somali tea with milk and the attendant just gave me regular tea. I had to ask for the milk. However, even though the service was subpar, the food was amazing! I ordered the Somali rice with chicken and malawah with beef. Both dishes were excellent and packed with flavor! I definitely plan on going back.
