Social Profile:

Experience the grill at Hana Japan Steak & Seafood. Hana Japan (hana: “flower”) specializes in a style of Japanese cuisine: teppanyaki (teppan: “metal grill”, yaki “to grill”). Our teppanyaki grills are used to cook in front of our guests for a memorable dining experience. Our mission is to create meaningful memories by cooking fresh meals for you at your table, sharing in laughter and connection. In 1979, Chef Yoon opened our first location and restaurant, a place for families to gather and where children love to eat. We are now proudly serving two locations in the Bay Area: Berkeley, California and Dublin, California.

Steaks & seafood served in a casual teppanyaki restaurant with a lively atmosphere.

We had Carlos for our chef and let me tell you something… He cooks up some mean seafood and steaks!!! Some of the best quality meats I’ve had at teppanyaki. The rice was a little boring, needing bacon added to it(not Carlos’ fault). I wish there was a spicy mayo sauce option. All in all, my negatives are mere preferences. Our experience and food was GREAT!

Im giving this place 4.5 to 5 stars. The food was good, I had the steak and shrimp with vegetable fried rice. The service was really good, the staff were really friendly and attentive. The place was also nice. Overall I would come here again.

Just had our anniversary dinner here. The chefs are great fun. The owner is present and engaging. The staff are kind and pleasant. It’s such a great way to do dinner and a show.

The food is delicious every time. Perfectly customizable and good quantities. Great experience. Every time.

On Friday, May 24, my family celebrated my birthday and had a wonderful meal at Hana’s. The appetizers main course and dessert were excellent the entertainment by the chef superb. The place is located not far from Highway 680 and 580. There is plenty of parking and a selection is substantial. We will be back again.

Fun and entertaining “Eater-tainment” experience. Have dined here twice and both of our chefs put on a great show for our multi-generational group of 8. Most tables hold 8.
The only drawback is the restaurant can get very noisy when it’s busy.

I was apart of a birthday party which was 7 people including the birthday girl. One person in the party ordered a $15 drink and three shrimp fried rice bowls for a total of $39 not including tax and gratuity. She was told her seat would cost $15 if she did not order a meal. Utterly ridiculous! She spent more than the price of the salmon meal ($32) so why would you charge her more??? If she had ordered nothing or less than one of meals then a charge for the seat could make sense, I guess. Not to mention she was in a wheelchair and not sitting in a chair! This practice is greedy! Hana Japan need to do better and give the person mentioned in my review a meal on the house for the unnecessary aggravation!

We rotate between this place and one in Alameda. We stopped going to Alameda because the dropped off on service and upped their prices. Well Hana Japan has followed suit. My boy’s birthday celebration was here and it fell really short. WAY Overpriced, mediocre at best food, poor service, the only salvation was the cooking show. I am really sad to state we will not be patronizing this place again. It was disappointing. If you have not been to a Hibachi Steak house try it once… Then forget about it. It is not worth the money you spend….. You want a solid meal that has been consistent over 40 years…. Harris Steak House in San Francisco…. This place was so unbelievably expensive………..

First time visiting. The food was good but a little pricey. Our chef was pleasant and attentive and overall did a great job. Unfortunately the people we were seated by completely ruined our entire experience. On top of being extremely loud and overbearing, at one point they even used their (dirty) utensils to put food back on the grill that had fallen off onto the table!

I have to Request for him again. If not, then this fine, I’ll have one of his Buddies! ❤️
