Don’t let the outside fool you, there is some amazing Nepalese/Indian food inside. The menu is extensive and yummy. The chicken momo is awesome. Huge selection of mutton (how can you not be in love) and the soups are hearty.

SCAM ALERT!!!

⭐☆☆☆☆ Absolutely Disappointed – Never Coming Back

So, the environment here is downright shitty. It used to be a decent place, food was good before but clearly, they can’t maintain the quality anymore. Honestly, Namaste is miles better if you want real Indian cuisine.

But what really pissed me off was their so-called “check-in card” the one where you supposedly get a free meal after 8 visits. I went last Friday, gave them the card to mark my visit, and today when I checked, they never added it. I showed them the receipt from Friday as proof, and they still flat-out refused to update it.

I get that it’s a small thing, but it shows how little they actually care about their customers. Other restaurants at least ask if the food or service was good but these people? They bark at you like they’re doing you a favor.

Seriously, learn how to treat customers before running a restaurant. The way they talked was rude and insulting. I’m done. Won’t ever step foot in this place again.

Tried the Paneer Butter Masala, Garlic Naan and some samosas as starters. The food was delicious, the masala was very creamy with a rich taste, the garlic naan was fresh and delicious as well. The samosas were special and just made. Delicious food with excellent service and a nice, cozy atmosphere. What more can you ask?

Delicious food and quick, friendly service (Monday dinner). Will be coming back!

Our party of two arrived for dinner around 5:30PM on a Monday and were seated immediately. We ordered the mango lassi, garlic naan, mutton kadai (spice level 5), and lamb butter masala (spice level 2). The wait for our entrees was average, everything else was fairly quick.

The mango lassi was refreshing, not too sweet, and helped with the spice of our meals. The mutton kadai and lamb butter masala were delicious. My partner said the mutton could be spicier for a level 5 spice, but he still enjoyed it. The lamb was a little spicier than I anticipated for a level 2, but I also enjoyed it. The garlic naan was perfect with our meals.

Compared to Namaste kitchen, we honestly enjoyed the food here at Hamro kitchen a little more. Both are great, but the flavors here were a little better. The service and wait were so much better and quicker here (although we did go to Namaste on a busy Saturday for dinner, a month or so after opening, and right as their dinner rush started)

I am sure if I’d tried a few other things, this would have been a 4-star experience at least. The reason for 3 stars is the Goat Biryani. The goat meat wasn’t tender at all. It tasted more like a last minute add-on to cooked basmati rice. The flavoring on the rice was also off. There was decent seasoning but maybe it lacked enough salt and/or other spices so it wasn’t flavorful. The chicken steamed Momos were fantastic though. I did get the Jhol Momo, and I didn’t really care for the broth.

Ordered the samosa chaat — it wasn’t bad, but they added a lot of the soup. Still good though. The momo meat was bland, and the sauce didn’t help it carry through. As for the chicken korma, it was also bland. The garlic and Kashmiri naan were good. Regarding the service, the waiter had an AirPod in, and I could barely hear them, especially with how busy the place was.

We were just passing through town and decided to stop here – amazing Nepalese food. The veggie momos were fantastic and the lentil soup was delicious. Love all the spice and garlic. Lots of vegetarian options!

Listen here’s what you’re going to do. You’re going to go here and you’re going to get you the baby corn or fried chicken chili. Now I know what you’re going to say “but I only get butter chicken or saag at indian restaurants” and listen 1) its a nepali restaurant so maybe your rules should be different 2) they have these and those are excellent here too, but you don’t want merely excellent, you want a type of food that makes you question whether you have ever actually had good food before or if this is your first experience right here in the middle of Blacksburg Virginia. So you’re going to get the baby corn chili and a side of rice and garlic naan and a mango lassi, do NOT skip any of these steps because whatever problem you have this is the cure. No problems? Okay great then this will make you go from having a good day to having a positively angelic one. Baby corn chili, garlic naan, if you want protein then hey add their chicken chili or another dish Im not a cop but i am a cop when it comes to making sure everybody eats here. You’re welcome in advance

Hamro Kitchen in Blacksburg is a solid choice for anyone craving flavorful and hearty Indian and Nepali cuisine. The standout for me was the Samosa Chaat – their chickpeas are done very well, adding a delightful balance to the dish (I got spice level 4 for everything). The portion was also quite generous and good for sharing. The Chicken Jol Momo was also pretty satisfying, showcasing the flavors Nepali dumplings are known for.

We also tried the Tandoori Mixed Grill, which came with a generous portion of chicken, and also included lamb, fish, and shrimp. While it was a great quantity for sharing, the taste was just okay compared to the other dishes.

Overall, Hamro Kitchen offers a good dining experience for Blacksburg.

I can honestly say this is the best food spot I have found. The service was amazing and the food was out of this world. I tried the samosa and butter chicken and both were cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back and will be bringing my friends here as well!
