This was superb American cuisine! More than your average bar food with wonderful service and atmosphere. Taxidermy is present for your viewing pleasure in one of two dining areas.
If you look close enough there is a guy who brings a new date in every week, very friendly and really makes the bar come alive.

Hammer Down is a cozy little tavern & restaurant. If you’re looking to “get away” from the city this is the place for you. The menu variety is super & the food is tasty. They have homemade pizza which is really good & worth the drive just for this alone! Live music occasionally; just check website first before you go. They’re near ATV trails too!

This was not my first experience at Hammerdown, I always loved going there, but this experience was very different than what I usually got. It was so cold in there, my feet were numb, we had to put our jackets back on and the food cooled down way to fast. I ordered an old fashioned, that I thought was a bit more expensive than other places, at $9.50, and they were out of mushrooms so I didn’t get anything in my drink. They raised the price of the chicken dinner a dollar, understandable, but the fries and wedges were burnt. The chicken was good as usual, but the cold really was the worst part.

I’m not a bar scene person the atmosphere is okay if the music is not blaring and therefore the 3 star for atmosphere. I love the food and the price for the pocket book. Hamburgers; you’re not wondering where the beef is, Friday fish fry is also excellent and abundant plate of food, Jalapeno poppers are now my new favorite.

Ordered Pizza & Pizza fries for Christmas Eve dinner with my parents. Was disappointed that they weren’t cooking their broasted chicken. We ended up ordering pizza & pizza fries. Very good, very fast service. Friendly bartender offering myself a drink while I waited another 5 minutes apologizing for the wait, np it was extremely busy for Christmas Eve early afternoon. Pizza’s ready in less than 5 minutes. Very reasonably priced for the 16″!! Delicious pizza, pizza fries w/ sauce!!! Would recommend!!

I love this place!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I went here as a kid for cheese curds and have come back many times since then. Family friendly during reasonable times and the best friendly service you could ask for. North woods atmosphere and yet modern, clean, affordable and comfortable any time of day. Make a friend or just stop by for the best food to go! Wisconsin cheese curds, big yummy burgers cooked to perfection. I will always come back here when I’m in the area. Thank you Hammer Down for being a local place of comfort and happy times. Keep up the good work.
