Service was great for my family and everyone else in the place. All were greeted with a smile and courtesy. Cashier was very polite and helpful. Pulled pork sandwich was much better than expected and kids liked their chicken tenders . We all got fries, which were fresh cut and cooked perfectly. The root beer float with 1919 root beer was delicious and a great way to end the meal. Seating was fine, but is limited.

A father and son team run this banging fine burger boutique. The burgers are super fresh and the salad was excellent. Yeah, I know who cares about a salad at a burger joint, but there are red and yellow peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes in a side salad. That never happens and when you are on the road getting your veggies is last on your list but these guys made it easy. Oh! And get some Huckleberry ice cream it was unique and awesome. I love getting new flavors when traveling in this was a winner. Yes, the Dairy Queen next door has burgers 2 for 5 bucks. Don’t even think about it and eat here.

The feeling of family is far and few inbetween when you’re traveling. Having arrived in Keystone too early to check into my hotel, I decided to rummage the town and see what gems I could find. Walking into Halley’s West I was greeted with a warm smile, the aroma of fine cuisine, and promise to come. The bison burger was hot, fresh, and full of flavor, complimented by the delectable fries. In order to quench my thirst, it was only right that I got my hands on a flight of beer. A kind young man from the back, Grayson helped me pick which ones would best suit me. We talked about our lives, families, goals and all. He made me feel right at home. When you leave home you get homesick, but when I leave South Dakota I’ll get sick from missing Halley’s West!

Stopped in for lunch after visiting Mt. Rushmore. Sounds like most restaurants start closing for the season in the area in October.
The service was great. It’s a pretty small place, but it wasn’t busy at all, we were the only ones in there for a while.
The Bison burgers were really good.
Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area.

Was greeted warmly and made us feel like we were part of the family. Superb food. Wonderful selection of beers. Highly recommend the frosted mug of root beer. A must try on a trip to keystone

Great hole in the wall burger shop. The $5 upgrade to bison burgers makes for a very expensive burger ($21 I believe), that I’m not entirely sold on the value. I had the mushroom, sauteed onion and bacon burger which is my all time favorite combo and I thought it was delicious. The ice cream flight seems a little pricey for what you get. The root beer on tap is fantastic.

Halleys West is a simple spot, but it definitely stands out for its spectacular service. The young man with long hair was incredibly kind and attentive, making our visit truly enjoyable. The food was good, and the overall experience was satisfying. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a place with great service and a warm atmosphere!

We found Halleys West after leaving Mt Rushmore and could not have been more surprised and pleased. The food was great but the service was unmatched. The owner was helpful and friendly and so fun with our kids. I have celiac and was shocked to learn they have gluten free chicken tenders with a dedicated fryer. We had an amazing flight of local beers and even sampled some local wines and took a bottle home. This is a 10 out of 10 for small local spots and we’re so glad we found it!

Reasonable price. The portion size is good. The salad is mainly iceberg Lettuce. The chicken wings are breaded and not much flavor. The hamburger is good, and you can double the meat for $3. They do have wine and ice cream. Outdoor seating, which was helpful to avoid the flies. Flies are bad everywhere.

Great little old town feel restaurant. Food is what you’d expect from a place like this. Giving it 4 stars based on the overall experience. I had the Buffalo burger and it was good. Location is about 5 minutes away from Mount Rushmore so that’s a plus if you’re going to visit or headed back. I’d go again for sure. Loved the availability of brews on tap.
