Stopped by Half Shell Oyster House during a road trip and it turned out to be a wonderful experience.
The Oyster Sampler was outstanding — four different flavors in one order, each perfectly cooked with a light char and great aroma. The hand-shucked oysters were incredibly fresh and sweet. From appetizers to entrées, everything was well prepared and consistently good.
Special thanks to our server Jacob, who truly elevated the experience. He was attentive, respectful, and genuinely appreciative of our habit of documenting moments through writing. We even wrote his name down as a small keepsake for him, which made the interaction feel very meaningful. We truly appreciate his warmth and professionalism.
If our next road trip brings us through this area again, we’d absolutely love to stop by once more.

We had dinner here during a stop-over in Mobile on our way from VA to TX. Ordered a mix of raw and charbroiled oysters. They were really good and would recommend. However, for the main entree we ordered redfish. My fish arrived on a plate that was splattered with oil, the food presentation was horrific and the fish tasted very salty. Furthermore, my husband ordered a drink (double jack on the rocks) and he got what looked like 1/2 a shot far from a double. Also, timing for serving was off. Oysters took a long time, as a result our salads for the main dish arrived at the same time as the oysters. Overall a terrible experience. Very disappointing after a long day of driving. Needless to say we are not going back. Finding a different restaurant for our next stop-over.

Pleasantly SHOCKED at how good it was! Drinks were well made and the food was excellent! Tried a half dozen oysters with their Cajun sauce and the 8oz filet! For being a seafood place the steak was like butter! Sat at the bar and was served by Mackenzie H who did a spectacular job! Location was recommended by the desk clerk at the LaQuinta! Phenomenal was the word she used and she was right. Thanks.

My daughter and I are visiting my hometown,Mobile Ala, but we reside Dallas Tx.My daughter was searching for a place to eat,she found Half Shell Oyster House. We go in,it was a nice quiet atmosphere we were seated and our waiter promptly came over and introduced himself. He spoke with us about the menu. I wanted what my daughter was choosing but I was leary about the Alfredo sauce. I wanted to see my daughter’s dish before I decided, but (Tanner) The waiter surprised me with a small dish of the Alfredo with a crispy small toast so that I could taste it. It was delicious so I ordered the same dish. When it came out it was piping hot. We ordered the seafood pasta ,asparagus, buttered sweet potato and hush puppies. We also had a side order of the crab claws. The food was delicious. Thank you Tanner for your impeccable service. 10 out of 10⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had an incredible experience at Half Shell Oyster House! From start to finish, everything was exceptional. I worked with Kacey, who helped me secure a reservation for our group, and she made the entire process smooth, professional, and stress-free. Our servers, Elijah and Logan, were absolutely amazingly attentive, friendly, and on top of every detail. The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was perfect for our gathering.

Had a great experience at this restaurant in this visit. Oyster sampler was great. Steak was cooked to temperature correctly. Seafood pasta had just the right amount of Seafood in it. Bar drinks were also excellent.
9/20/25 @ 11am – stopped and visited this location again and my server Ms. Lisa was excellent and down to earth. The food was accurate and tasted excellent. The only issue i had was the guy grilling the oysters that was wearing a full face mask was either having a mental breakdown or going through something because he complained and used profanity my whole visit and there were kids around.

It’s never a disappointment! I’ve loved eating here since I moved to mobile in 2020 and I’ll most likely continue to come back. The martinis are the best and then crab cakes and fried green tomatoes are my absolute favorite ooooh they are so good

We are visiting from out of town & some locals recommended this restaurant. Glad they did. Our server brought us out a sample of the Cajun sauce to make sure it wasn’t too spicy for the non spice lover in our group. We had the bisque (not pictured), oyster sampler, crab claws, royal red shrimp, & voodoo shrimp po boy, & a sweet potato side. We enjoyed everything we had!
