My wife and I stumbled upon the Half Moon Inn while traveling up I-35, and we’re so glad we did! Google Maps led us here thanks to its good reviews, and they were well-deserved. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was really pleasant. The absolute highlight was the steak. The steak was truly excellent! The house salad was also fresh and delicious. Our only minor critique is regarding the pace; if you’re in a hurry, this isn’t the spot. We’d budgeted about 45 minutes for supper but ended up staying for closer to an hour and 45 minutes. That said, the quality of the meal made the extra time worthwhile. Highly recommend for a relaxed, delicious meal!

This is pretty good. Small venue with friendly staff and good food. The jalapeño cheddar poppers were great. We had the ribeyes and both agreed that it wasn’t even in our top ten places for a steak but was still good. My son had the charburger which he he thought was good. Nice stop but a little pricy for just “good” steaks. If we go back I would be interested to see if the other entrees outshine the steaks. It does look like they have a nice variety on the menu and are quite a popular place to go on a Friday night.

Wait person came to table (at very back of dining area) 10 minutes after we sat down. She said she had not been told the table was hers. Her attitude was very good and she was personable.
Initially service was OK. Probably a 15 minute wait to get the bar drinks.
Appetizer came in reasonable time. Wife was ready for a second glass of wine. She forgot all about it and brought it after she brought food.
When she delivered food, asked if I’d like steak sauce. I said yes and then she said she would get it and get us more water. 15 minutes later, after I nearly finished my pork chops, the hostess brought it. I asked about water. She said she would get it right away. About 10 minutes later, the young man that had been pouring water at tables, happened by and we finally got water.
About 10 minutes after we had completed our meal, the hostess came by and dropped off the check. Another 8 minute wait before someone came for credit card.
Not our waitress, came back with card and receipt and pen then walked away. The individual had run the credit card for $54 less than actual bill. After another 5 minutes with no one to ask I finally walked up front and the bartender helped me.
Our waiter came to our table 4 times during the course of our 1.75 hour meal. There were 3 other staff that visited our table.

I am a life long resident of Clear Lake. The meal at the half moon will be my LAST. My family was there last Wednesday. We arrived at 5:30 PM. Took a very long time to make our order as the staff was very busy. I tried to order the ribs but told they would not be cooked till 7:00 PM. The last time I was there I could only get a half order because that is all they had left. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast. 2 hours later the order came to the table. The hash browns were burnt to a crisp, the onions on the chicken were burnt black, the chicken was cold so the cheese was not melted. The owner, wait staff and cook should be ashamed of themselves serving this garbage. I will never be back.

I had a salad and appetizers. My friends had burgers. Very good. I liked the service and atmosphere even more. Active, but not too loud. Sara our server, was great at checking on us. We didn’t have drinks, but they have those as well. It’s a good place to be on a Friday night.

It shouldn’t be on the patrons to express their discust and disappoval of the service or food….the owner/manager should go ABOVE and BEYOND to assure TOP NOTCH service….um, customer service 101, duh.

Best restaurant in Clear Lake. This place hasn’t changed much over the years and our favorite place each time we visit. The food, service and original atmosphere is why this place continues to be so popular.

The food was worth stopping in for. I had the fried pork sandwich, which was well priced, and delicious. It’s a busy spot, so if you can’t take noise I would avoid it, but otherwise it is a fantastic spot to drop in on.
