We are staying at the Grand Hyatt and hadn’t tried Hale Nalu. Glad we did! Enjoyed the “Shrimp-wreck salad”. Someone told us they put way too much dressing on it, so we ordered it on the side. Glad we did! Only used about half of what they gave us. My wife got the Kauai garden salad. Also very good. And for good measure, we tried out the house made hummus. Worth it!

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon (not hotel guests) specifically for their Ube Flows… delicious! $18 each.

Also ordered a couple nacho appetizers – decent but probably wouldn’t order again.

Service was very friendly and attentive. Gorgeous atmosphere, plants, scenery. Nearby free parking (if you can find a spot).

This is the pool bar + restaurant

The food was good, very solid, we were not disappointed (like you can be by hotel pool restaurant food). The portion sizes were fair; the prices are a bit high, but in par with the resort; and the service was very friendly and fast. The $20 cocktails were all very sweet (especially the Mai tai – beyond normal sweet).

Cristina took care of us and she was very pleasant, professional, and helpful with suggestions.

We have been eating here for years when we stay and play at the Grand Hyatt. Great food and service with an amazing view, either one of the pools or shipwreck Beach.

The chicken Chinese salad is our favorite, but disappeared before I captured a photo. My son likes the kieki hot dog, but we haven’t had anything we didn’t like

The kalua pork nachos are delicious and quite a large helping while the quesadillas are amazing.

Good value for a pool side cafe. We got the loaded nachos which come with pork piled on top and the chicken sandwich. The portions ended up being huge and were more food than my wife and I needed. Could probably just split one. I recommend if hanging by the pool all day.

The review is for the shave ice. It’s more like a snow cone and nothing like shave ice. The ice was chunky rather than soft and not fine like shave ice should be. And for a snow cone, it failed also. The syrup flavors (mango and pina colada) tasted fake and had a very odd flavor to them. Made my wife’s tongue feel numb. The addition of ice cream was one of the frozen cups they sell simply opened and put in the cup (rather than a soft serve type). For $11+ it wasn’t worth it. We didn’t even eat half of it. Go elsewhere for shaved ice, like Riptide by the Beach House on Poipu Beach area.

Great place to eat for lunch at the Grand Hyatt. The only problem I have are the prices. But it is a resort so you might have to take that into consideration.

Your typical poolside restaurant with decent but pricey treats. Landscaping of the hotel is fantastic.

If you’re handicapped, good luck getting down to this place. Long walk down a hill to get there, then uphill to get out. The cocktails are just okay. Good was nothing special. Overpriced IMO. I give this place a 3.7 but rounding to the nearest whole number. (4)

Been here and Captain Bar (same menu) a few times now since we arrived at the resort 3 days ago. People at the bar are way more on top of it. The women working the register at Hale Nalu forgot our drinks, got one of our drinks wrong, and then said they’d make an “exception” for giving us sour cream with our quesadilla (even though it was served with our entree the day before and not a side that costs extra). Pretty frustrating experience when you’re paying about $80 for two meals and two drinks. My husband and I will just go to the bar here on out.
