This decades old live music and food destination is under new ownership. Chef Damien Cavicchi is bringing new life to the menu while maintaining local favorites. He blends inspiration from around the Southeast and beyond while introducing eclectic and bold flavors through his new dishes. Lunch is a destination for Jacksonians from around the city. My first time here, traveling from out of state. Several locals recommended this place so I had to stop in. Late lunch. While I was waiting for my Togo order the owner/manager saw me wandering around the dining room looking at all the cool memorabilia and asked if it was my first time here. He gave me the grand tour! It was awesome; this place is rich with history.

Really enjoyed The workout hosted by Rita Brent. We had an amazing time laughing and participating with each person on stage. There were different performances from singing, reciting poetry, and telling jokes. We only had to pay $10 for entry, food and drinks were for purchase as well.

Great service. Burger was pretty good. Always a nice feel in the place. I’m not sure if it’s because of the new owners or just inflation but the last time I paid that much for two drinks I was in the Atlanta airport. Probably won’t be back.

Apologies in advance but I didn’t take pictures. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles and positive vibes. We were promptly seated and our waitress was just a friendly as the hostess! I started with their gumbo (only a cup because I knew the rest of dinner would be filling) and it was delicious. Not too spicy and certainly rightly seasoned. My better half passed on an appetizer but had the half order or red beans and rice with andouille sausage. The half order was most restaurants full size portion. I had the half and half po boy (shrimp and oysters). The shrimp and oysters were fried to perfection with a light coating and seasoning was pretty good. I had it fully dressed! We ended with cheesecake and key lime pie!! The perfect Friday dinner date!

The kitchen closes at 9pm. We showed up at 5 til 9 on a Friday night (due to a hotel mishap), and the kitchen staff stayed open for us. We received our meal by 9:15! All of the staff were very friendly. The food was amazing! There was a guitarist/live music that night, which also helped make the experience exceptional (my kids loved it). We were only visiting Jackson for 24 hours, and my 10 year old wanted to eat here the next day too! My hubby and I got the muffaletta and thunderbird. They were both to die for!
