I sat at the sushi bar with Chef Julio, which was the best decision of my trip. The fish quality is incredible, featuring a mix of fresh local catches and premium imports from Japan.
The hospitality sets this place apart.
I spent the evening chatting with Chef Julio about his story. He is knowledgeable and warm. He even surprised me with several extra items to try, and each was delicious. The Dassai 39 paired perfectly with the nigiri, and the Alaskan roll, chu-toro and scallop nigiri were a few standouts.
I had such a great time at the sushibar and chatting with other friendly guests and staff!.
If you are in SF, you must visit Hakashi. I will 100% be back. Thank you, Chef Julio, for an unforgettable night.
We’ll be back again soon.
Julio, the owner and chef, was amazing. He didn’t just serve sushi — he actually took the time to teach us about the fish, explain where it came from, and how it should be enjoyed. You can tell he genuinely cares about the craft and about giving guests a great experience.
He had me try several things I’d never had before, and every single piece was outstanding. The fish was incredibly fresh and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Sitting at the bar and watching the care and detail that goes into each dish made it even better.
If you love sushi and want something more personal than the typical restaurant experience, this is the spot. Great food, great vibe, and an unforgettable meal.
Can’t wait to come back.
We had Omakase- and it was the BEST in San Francisco. Every piece was perfect, and I really enjoyed conversation with the chefs at the sushi counter. Loved the unassuming vibes. Will come back soon!!
The rolls and the nagiris were all incredible. I recommend getting the Hakashi roll.
