My first time eating here. Standard diner fare, atmosphere and service. We went for lunch. My wife ordered the turkey lunch special with was sliced turkey over “filling” with salad and two sides. I ordered the honey dipped fried chicken with salad with fried and pickled beets.
My wife actually found the turkey meal so unacceptable that she returned it! She never does that! She said the turkey was sliced deli meat quality, and bland and the “filling” was this gummy pudding-like consistency… definitely not stuffing or dressing. So she returned it and got fried chicken like I did. To their credit the servers apologized and quickly replaced her order.
The fried chicken was much better. The pieces were on the small side but made up for it with lots of flavor.
They do offer a seniors menu with their popular items at smaller sizes.
Id like to return for breakfast sometime before I fully recommend this restaurant but I do appreciate the quality of their service.

This used to be one of my favorite spots to go. Idk what happened. My family came in tonight. One other table was sat the place was empty. It took 45 minutes to get our food. Gravy and hashbrowns were cold. Cheese wasn’t melted. Steak was so chewy my husband couldn’t eat his food. We spent 100 and left hungry and pissed off. Server brought our food and we never saw her again. I had to ask another sever for our check. We won’t ever be back. What a waste of time and money.

Was exploring during the weekend and drove through Hagerstown. Great diner that seems to be a local hangout. I was intrigued with the Dutch version of things. I guess b/c of the proximity to PA. I had the Dutch omelet which I liked a lot b/c I like both potatoes and onions. The home fries were super good, crispy but not greasy. I almost want to drive back 1 hour to get it again for breakfast. Service was great.
Added both sides of the breakfast menu in the pics b/c I noticed current pics didn’t have. We had breakfast at 7am.

This diner was ok. Our server hustling was all over the place.
The chicken parm was tasty. The Rueben was just fair. Very skimpy thin slices and minimum saurkrout. French onion soup was good. The fries were the best!
We probably won’t come back.

Consistently good food AND service, which is getting harder and harder to find. Best chipped beef I’ve found and I drive out of Winchester VA to get it.

Our waitress Brittany was great. The place looks very nice. The cost ranges depending on what you get. We got an amazing open roast beef, a chicken gyro, corn nugget app, and a slice of chocolate crème pie. It was $40 which isn’t bad but the pie was not good, it was freezer burnt and gross. But the food itself was amazing.

We enjoyed a nice breakfast and lunch there. The coffee was good which is important at breakfast. Everything was prepared well and served hot. My Reuben sandwich was spot on. The sandwich was hot and the pickles cold. The eggs were made perfect. The place was clean, our server was attentive and pleasant. A meal that you don’t feel like hurrying away from. The only negative was I left my doggie bag on the table. Getting old.

I had heard some mixed reviews and decide to try it out with my parents/family when they came to visit. Very glad we did! Staff was friendly, seemed to know lots of the customers personally,, the place is large and clean, lots of cakes on display. Variety of food, i got the fried veal with seafood bisque (choice of soup or salad and 2 sides) and pickled beets and pepper cabbage (sorta like coleslaw but with sweet/vinegary pickled peppers in in, it’s amazing and my first time having it). Other food my family has was great as well, my mom had the roast beef, dad had broiled scallops (large portion, not over or under cooked) with cream cheese and apple butter (even gave extra apple butter) and allowed him to do a baked potato instead of mashed potatoes, and my sister loved her gyro.
They have some arcade games out front and even a bitcoin machine which I’ve never seen before.

Hagerstown Family Diner is amazing! We were spending the weekend in Hagerstown, and Google searched for local diners. The reviews were really good, so we decided to check it out. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door. Our Server Brittany did a phenomenal job. The food is delicious and the restaurant is clean. We will definitely be back.
