Habanero Mexican Grill is fantastic. The woman working the front counter was extremely friendly and helpful, and she served up some of the best street tacos I’ve had in a long time here in Richmond, Virginia. The tacos came with cilantro, onion, and a great green sauce and without me even asking, she somehow read my mind and added grilled onions and a grilled jalapeño slice on the side.
The salsa had just the right amount of heat and flavor. I honestly can’t recommend this place enough. If I had one small gripe, it would be that I wish there were a table or two inside for eating on colder days like today, but don’t let that deter you. There is outdoor seating when the weather is nice, and honestly, the food tastes just as good in the car or at home.
I even doubled back and went inside again just to thank her in person and let her know how great everything was.

First time, so I ordered 2 beef tacos. $6.50. A few tables inside and half dozen outside. A short wait. Tacos were fresh soft flour tortillas filled with mildly seasoned meat covered with green sauce and chopped onions and cilantro. On the side were slices of grilled onions and a single slice of hot pepper. The tacos were warm and juicy and very good tasting. I felt the price was too expensive for what I got though. Who knows… this may be West End prices.

The food is delicious, tacos, tortas, etc. The service is good and the place is small but every time I go is really clean. The tables are outside.
Really nice when is sunny.

I usually struggle to order here just a bit because I only speak English and these wonderful people speak two. But I have never been disappointed here. It is one of my favorite Mexican places to go especially when I want something more authentic. I asked for peppers with this expecting some pickles jalapeños or bell pepper pieces and got an entire fresh grilled jalapeño. It was perfect as always. The staff was very kind to me. And it did not take long at all to get food. Maybe about 10-15 minutes. But totally worth it!

I tried the Al Pastor tacos today. Soooo good!!!! Thank you for always being patient with your customers. My favorite is the Lengua (beef tongue) but the Al Pastor is a very close second favorite now.

Absolutely the quickest and friendliest authentic taco joint in this area. Right across the street from Mediterranean bakery.

Tacos al pastore were fresh and full of flavor and the salsa verde was so bright and really complemented the tacos.

Will be stopping by every time I’m in the area!

If you want the best in Mexican food at the best price, this is your place! Fast food does not have to be bad, or bad for you! It’s a family owned restaurant and a place where you can really taste your last vacation to Mexico…as authentic as it gets! If you don’t believe me, read about this place in the press as it has been featured in local guides and newspapers!

Habanero Mexican Grill has been my go-to spot for authentic Mexican food for several years now, and it consistently delivers when it comes to bold, flavorful dishes. The food here is absolutely delicious, with rich, vibrant flavors that make each meal feel like a true taste of Mexico. Whether it’s their tacos, burritos, or one of their specialty plates, you can always expect a meal that’s bursting with authentic taste. The fresh ingredients and traditional recipes have always been a huge draw for me.

However, over time, I’ve noticed a few changes that have slightly impacted my overall experience. One issue is that there can sometimes be a language barrier when placing orders, as not all of the staff are fluent in English. This has led to a few mix-ups with my order on occasion. Additionally, I’ve observed a subtle decline in the quality of the food lately. While it’s still good, it’s not quite at the same exceptional level it once was.

Despite these minor issues, I continue to frequent Habanero Mexican Grill because the food remains some of the best Mexican in town. I hope they address these concerns so that they can restore the consistently high quality that originally won me over.
