Haandi Pakistani & Bengali Restaurant is a solid spot if you’re craving authentic desi comfort food in New York. The menu has all the classics you expect and they do them really well. We tried the samosas, nihari, chicken biryani, goat chops, and beef masala—everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and felt genuinely homemade.
The samosas were crisp and fresh, the biryani was aromatic and hearty, and the chops were cooked perfectly with great spice balance. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food.
But the real highlight for us was the chai. Rich, comforting, and exactly what you want to end a meal with—honestly worth coming just for that.
Great food, authentic flavors, and a cozy vibe. Definitely a place I’d come back to again and recommend to anyone looking for good Pakistani and Bengali cuisine.

Food is excellent here. I ordered some stuff but he corrected me and served me the better things. Always let them do this. Never loved spinach but the spinach and chickpeas brings so much good heat to everything else. Was the only white guy there, this place took me back to first great Pakistani food I had as a 14 year old. Cabs lined up the block. A balanced plate someone cares enough about to toss in the microwave and get steamed up (without drying anything out). Eat your vegetables and like it. Lovingly prepared naan. Ignore the haters this place has still got it.

Total Disappointment – Not Worth Visiting

We took a bus all the way from Times Square expecting a good meal, but this place was a complete letdown. The food was served cold, even after being microwaved. The place was dirty, the staff had a terrible attitude, and on top of everything, they overcharged us. If the food had at least been tasty, it might’ve been somewhat worth it — but it was completely bland. Definitely not worth the time, money, or effort. Would not recommend.

Love the authentic food, highly recommended if in Manhattan. Love the beef paya, Nihari, roti, and Chicken biryani. The menu offers a variety of selections, but we were craving the ones listed on the menu, and they tasted the best.

Today is Saturday time at 12:30 AM. Yellow t shirt and red hat this guy is very rude. I order my chicken platters . He put everything is poor amount and chicken very tiny pieces and it’s burning. Lentils test is sour and bitter. I requested to change and put some extra rice. He said no !! Platters comes like that. It’s totally rude behavior. Never come back here.

Very worst experience, food servers doesn’t know how to talk. Ramadan platter isn’t worth a single penny.

When you are In Manhattan and you don’t want to take food from Food cart and you want halal Desi especially Pakistani food. Then Handi is the place. Don’t expect a Hi-Fi lobby or dinning room. Just a decent sitting place and may be you have to wait because sitting area is small. But the food quality is great. Every thing we tried had a very delicious desi taste. Overall great nice place to eat .

I am very disappointed with this restaurant.
I ordered 4 chicken samosa they sent me 4 Aloo samosa.
I ordered 2 Roti’s they sent me 0 .
I ordered 1 Dahi Phulki they sent me a old and rotten Dahi Phulki.
I ordered 1 chicken biryani which was also to oily and seemed like the chicken was used from a previous dish .
I called them 4 times to try to resolve my order but every time they hangup on me with-in 30 seconds.
It is very disappointing that this Pakistani/ Bangladeshi business treats their own Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslim community people very disrespectful and dishonest by cheating on them just for a few dollars and the very sad part is that even in the holy month of Ramadan they still rob their own Muslim community in the blessed month of Ramadan and they don’t even show any regret of their wrong doing.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone going or ordering any food from this place.
I PRAY TO ALLAH THAT THIS RESTAURANT GOES OUT OF BUSINESS SOONER THAN LATER BECAUSE THEY DISERVED IT. AMEEN

A great place to quickly try a bunch of South Asian dishes, as they prepare the items in bulk, and serve by plate. Items include Indian, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani favorite dishes. The taste is pretty legit, the do not compromise on spice or masala. All items smell and taste just like if they were made at home.

The restaurant itself looks very old, messy, and unhygienic. Restroom is not up-to the standard. The uninspiring look and feel of the restaurant diminishes it’s quality of product somewhat.
