We had been meaning to come here for awhile as we love anything BBQed.
Liked:
• A big range of quality meat marinated in delicious sauces
• Self cooking so that it’s done how we like it
• An affordable lunch menu. We both chose 3 different meats, euchre came with rice, salad and Miso soup.
• Partitioned settings that give some privacy in each section.
Er…
• Googlepay / Applepay was kaput. As someone who doesn’t carry a wallet this was awkward.
• Patchy service – forgetting to bring all the parts for our meal, most probably because both people were in a constant rush. One talked so fast I almost couldn’t understand him.
Conclusion: pretty decent food with forgettable service.

I was a first time visitor and stopped in for a late night meal after a sporting event on the weekend. I believe they are open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays which was a convenient surprise.
The manager Luis was so helpful in assisting us by explaining the menu then recommending several items on the menu for us to try.
We chose to go with the $65 all you can eat package and went to town! The filet mignon, the skirt steak, the fried pork belly with lemon, the flank steak and rib eye were so delicious!! We had the corn, spicy cucumber and other sides that stood out. There were also cooked sushi items that came in two pieces per plate which were also great. Needless to say we loved the food and got our fill.
Manager Luis was friendly, helpful and definitely gave us the best experience we could ask for as first timers. I would definitely go back to this restaurant and recommend you give it a try.

The atmosphere was great they service was amazing the food was delicious, we couldn’t decide if we wanted to do the Japanese BBQ or just order different things off the menu we decided to try different things, we got spicy addictive cucumbers and spicy cabbage salad, gyoza’s and spicy Japanese chicken, then we ordered regular food like garlic chicken noodles and hot stone Japanese curry everything we ate was so good.

Quality food and tasty meals, clean, good service. We were a party of 4 for lunch, the place wasn’t busy, about 25% occupancy. We chose the all you can eat menu, you only have 90 minutes and it’s a live cooking which takes longer time. It’s not fair for the restaurant to over order and cook large portions at the same time in order to taste more varieties and toss lots of food and that’s not our culture, at the same time it’s not fair and not nice to hear from the server “time is over it’s your last order “.

Gyu-Kaku is hands down one of the best Japanese BBQ spots I’ve visited. Everything – from the quality of meat to the vibrant atmosphere – was on point.
Highlights:
✔ Premium meats – Their wagyu and premium beef cuts are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The “Three Tier Entertainment” set is perfect for groups!
✔ Addictive sauces – The spicy jalapeño sauce is fire (literally and figuratively).
✔ Great vibes – Modern izakaya atmosphere that’s equally good for dates or group hangouts.
✔ Solid happy hour – Good deals on drinks and appetizers.

The beef was great. Their garlic rice and garlic edamame were amazing. Took 2 tries to get our drinks, though. If I lived closer, I would totally come back, but otherwise, there were too many options to still try. Our drinks, once we got them, were delicious and strong, but that was a thirsty wait to get em.

I have been to several Gyu Kaku restaurants in the world – Tokyo, Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan, LA, – this is my favorite branch so far.
Its clean, ambiance was great! Its clearly a newer branch. There were 3 of us and we ordered the Meat Lovers, it was well enough! Great value for money and fantastic service too!

Decent food, asked for extra spicy ramen, and wasn’t even slightly spicy. One person in our group they forgot to punch in the order, so they didn’t get food until halfway through the meal. Decent happy hour prices. I’d give the ramen a 7/10 on taste.

Our first time at this location and it might be our new favorite! Huge interior, clean, looks newly designed. We went around 5pm on a Friday for happy hour and it was a ghost town, but I personally love that! Service was great, food was so fresh and delicious! Must orders: Bistro Hangar Steak, Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna, Spicy Pork Belly, Jalapeño Edamame, & chicken Garlic Noodles!!!

This is the downtown LA outlet of the Japanese BBQ chain store Gyu Kaku. You can choose an all you can eat menu and also a set menu. We chose the $200 family meal menu for four. It’s a decent variety of dishes and meats to grill. The meat quality was good but the portion are bit small for those big appetites if you select the set menus. Go AYCE if your group has big eaters. AYCE is higher per person here due to their Japanese style offerings. The dessert included in the Set Menu was s’mores cooked on the cooker. Parking in downtown is horrible so your best bet is to find a fixed price parking lot for around $8 or $10 near the restaurant.
