Stopped in at Gypsy Nickel in Big Rapids for lunch and had a great experience. Hunter was our bartender and also our server, he was super friendly and attentive throughout. We tried the spicy chicken sandwich, Philly wrap, and a couple of burgers, all of which were fresh and tasty. Drinks (Diet Coke and iced tea) were drinks to accompany. Relaxed atmosphere, good food, and service, definitely a solid lunch spot in town!

One word. Fantastic. Food was great and prices were awesome. Beer was priced perfect. Burgers were really delicious and I dont know when I got burger and large alsalad for 13.99. The patty melt was super good and the server was nice and attentive. When I got the bill I asked myself that’s it. So we tipped 50 percent. What a great find.

This tavern is a gem! I was in town on business and looking for a place to have a beer and a snack—Gypsy Nickel checked all the boxes. I was greeted promptly upon entering, grabbed a seat at the bar, and had a cold beer in front of me within minutes. The chips and salsa were fresh and very tasty. On a nice day in BR there’s nowhere better than the deck of Gypsy Nickel. Bar is fun, food is okay, servers are nice. Sometimes the beer can be iffy so IPA snobs beware. Overall a top spot in town.

I’ll give it 4 stars all around. It’s a sports bar, so it’s a bit noisy from all the TVs.

Food was good, but the server brought napkins instead of plates with our appetizer which made sharing the dipping sauce awkward. I asked for extra pickles and mayo on the side with my chicken sandwich- there was only 2-3 pickles and mayo on the sandwich when it came out. I would have told the server about these issues but she never asked how anything was. I think if the server would’ve actually been more attentive, the whole experience would have been way better. One other thing that was weird- they charged for the lettuce and tomato on my sandwich…
