Cozy cafe with excellent food! We split the beef and lamb platter which came with rice, salad and pita, and added some falafel. The meat was delicious, especially with the tahini dressing, and the rice was good as well! The falafel stole the show, crispy outside and moist inside, maybe the best I’ve had!

Food was very tasty and fresh.
The seating area is very clean and has a bright ambiance!
We got 2 samples to taste before we could order. The soup was flavorful.
For vegetarians, try the Koshary ! Really flavorful and tasty.

One of the best falafels!! Fluffy, tender Egyptian falafels, omg I couldn’t stop eating them. The guy who took our order was so welcoming and friendly. My Mom and I can’t wait to come back to eat here, a must try restaurant to have on your list of places to eat <3 Make sure to get the falafels!

Awesome kabob in Newport City !
The staff was very friendly and so kind. We got the lamb and beef kabob to go and they offered us some falafel, which was a very nice gesture and honestly it was the best falafel I had in my life !
About the kabob, they were very generous with the rice and the meat was very tasty.
We had a very great experience, I highly recommend this place.

The food was good, nothing too special. The pita sandwich was good and the beef shish kebab was okay, it came with rice and a side salad. The rice was tasty but the meat was a little over seasoned. We ordered two waters and when we went to grab them from the fridge we accidentally picked up a juice along with a water, not realizing it was a different price. Instead of just paying the small difference, we ended up having to pay for the extra juice which was only about 30 cents more but still a little annoying. Overall though, it was fine.

Gypsy Grill is a solid kebab/Mediterranean spot. Always open late and at the east end of Newark Avenue, it is easy to find.
They got some great specials, but their Shawarma bowl is fire. Large portion of saffron rice, tender chicken thighs, and some great sauces.
A MUST is the hummus, by far some of the best hummus I’ve ever had. Strongly encourage an order at the minimum.
It is high in sodium, after eating I definitely felt it….but it’s worth it.

Really nice place to eat in Jersey City. Friend brought me here. We got a beef & lamb shawrma sandwich which was tasty. Also, we got a spinach and cheese roll with fries which were really good as well which came with sauces. Food was fresh and made quickly. I will definitely come back here again.

Stopped by Gypsy Grill to pick up food for takeout. The staff was extremely polite and hospitable. I asked for recommendations and was told the Chicken Shawarma platter. I ordered one without onions and needless to say i wasn’t disappointed. The food was excellent, full of flavor and authentic spices. The platter was a sizable portion and fed two of us. Highly recommend!
Update: We’ve ordered from Gypsy Grill quite a few times since my first visit and needless to say, our experience has been consistently excellent! We also had them cater for a recent party and everything was delicious. The Falafel tray and the Chicken Shawarma Tray were flavorful and delicious, and the Hummus Tray was great too! The Chicken Kabob Box is also quite good. The rice pudding is good but has a vanilla essence that may not be to everyone’s taste. Nonetheless, we’re very happy with Gypsy Grill and consistently find it to be one of our top go-to Middle Eastern restaurants in the area!
