We just held our daughters wedding reception at Gypsum Grill and Even Center. OUTSTANDING!! Mackenzie was such a joy to work with. She is professional, organized and eager to help! I had NO stress because of her work ethic and attention to detail! The staff was present and hard working. The chef made amazing food! The atmosphere was beautiful. It was everything we envisioned and more!

A much needed addition to The Mines! Food and service were great, and getting to watch golfers finish during dinner is nice. The Duck Fried Rice is one of the best entrees I’ve had in months!

Went here to celebrate 2 birthdays. Super impressed with this place! Service, food and specialty cocktails were outstanding. We tried 5 drinks and each one was excellent in taste and presention. Highly recommend the spicy Korean beef nachos, squash bisque, macaroni and cheese and the Italian sandwich. And the desserts were YUM! Atmosphere and view are wonderful. You will not be disappointed.

New restaurant at the Mines Golf Course. Review is a reflection of overall experience (understanding that they will have pains as they adjust). Atmosphere is somewhat cold and plain but I’m sure will be nice when it’s warm and for golf outings. Wait staff we had was inexperienced (didn’t stay up on drink refills, didn’t check on us much). Food took quite a while to come out for how few patrons there were. Party tried the Sweet Heat and Funghi flat breads (both were very good). Also tried the miso butternut squash entree (tasty but small serving size) and the fish sando (fish was good but bun overwhelms it). Pepsi products are a minus for us, personally. Prices were decent.

My fiance’ and I went here for Valentine’s Day 2025. My fiance’ lives nearby, and we had been looking forward to coming here since it opened. Sadly, it did not meet our expectations. I will say there was very little on the regular menu or the Valentine’s Day menu that appealed to me. We started with the whipped ricotta dip(from the regular menu) It was ok, but lacked flavor and was a small portion. I had the Mediterranean Sea Bass with herb frittata with citrus yogurt and pomegranate seeds (which was on their Valentine menu). The presentation was decent and the flavor was good, but again, the portion was small. I didn’t dislike my dinner, but it wasn’t anything extraordinary. I really felt bad about my fiance’s experience with his dinner. He had the sockeye salmon with braised fennel, smokey chorizo cream sauce, purple sweet potato and chive oil(from the regular menu). His salmon was very small once removing the skin and fat and the salmon was very dry. I tried the fennel and it was quite flavorless and was basically the largest item in the meal(underneath the piece of salmon). The purple sweet potato was nothing more than four, small, round, quarter size (maybe), slices. I absolutely understand why he was so dissatisfied with his meal. I ordered the Carpenter Classic drink for dessert and the presentation was good and the drink was good. While my experience wasn’t as bad as my fiance’s, I cannot say that I would recommend the Gypsum Grill. I know that we are not planning on returning. There are many other restaurants to try and there’s no reason to spend another $100+ here.
We did have a reservation and we were seated as soon as we arrived. I had requested a booth, which we did get and it was near the fireplace, which was nice. The lighting is a bit harsh throughout. I liked the style of the lighting at the bar but it needs to be tempered for more ambiance, especially for evenings such as Valentine’s Day, and in areas away from the bar. It was very loud as well and just did not have that intimate feel one would hope for on Valentine’s. It would also look much more professional if the black curtains separating the restaurant and banquet areas were steamed or pressed. They had the packaging lines in them and looked as if they were just pulled out of the package and thrown on in a hurry. The restaurant has been open long enough that they should be pressed by now.
The staff was friendly and attentive and I had no complaints there.
The Gypsum Grill is still very new and most likely trying to find their place and set themselves apart. I would hope that they will develop a more appealing menu, with better portions, and work on their ambiance (if they want to be a fine dining establishment). Right now it feels like a sports bar trying to be a fine dining restaurant. Since they already have the sports bar vibe, they would be better off with classic, good food, that everyone likes, and good portions.

My son’s wedding reception was held at the Gypsum Event Center 10/10/25 and we had such a wonderful experience! Mackenzie was helpful from the first meeting to the last moment in making the event run so smoothly. The food was incredible (short ribs, salmon, and a chicken dish with salad, bread, and wedding cake plated and serve immediately after the dinner plates were cleared). The signature drinks were delicious. The venue is SO pretty with full glass on two walls looking down over the golf course, the floor-to-ceiling fireplace, and the smart location of the bar, dance floor, and dressing room for the bridal party. The linens and place settings on the table were elegant, and they even printed for us the names of each guest with which meal they were receiving after we provided to them a seating chart – SO helpful and one less step! There was an engagement picture of the couple on a large monitor in the entry, so guests quickly knew they were in the right place. The only constructive criticism I have is that the room was somewhat loud, for which I’ve heard they are exploring acoustic dampening solutions, and the overflow parking lot is not paved or lighted, which will be happening in the spring. If I had to do it over, I would pick this venue every time. HIGHLY recommend!

I usually come here for happy hour and enjoy the drinks and atmosphere. Tonight I came with my family for dinner. First the hostess seemed annoyed and somewhat clueless which was weird, we tried to make small talk and it was super awkward. She said she was “newer.” Server was fine but everything we ordered was “out.” Which is crazy bc it wasn’t busy and it was Friday at 6:15p. So 3 different times we had to re-pick what we wanted to order including my son from kids menu. He switched to quesadilla but when that came they were out of sour cream or any salsa for it. My husbands ribeye was weirdly chewy and not good and my other sons chicken bites had a huge chunk of something super rubbery and gross. My wrap was fine but I had wanted the short ribs that they were out of even tho it was listed as a favorite. Just overall super disappointing experience.
I might be back for happy hour drinks but definitely not for food.

I live in West Grand Rapids and didn’t know about this restaurant, but it will be a staple now. Dana was amazing, very communicative, and great with handling both me and my friend’s gluten allergy. They have one of the best gluten free flatbreads I have ever had!!! Will recommend to anyone and everyone I speak to for the next few weeks.

Where do I begin? From the time we stepped into the restaurant we were welcomed and received warmly by all the staff! The food was exceptional from the chicken nuggets and fries for my granddaughter to the flatbread and finally the cod dinner! The spiced pear margarita was so good, I had to have another! Our server, Ian, took the opportunity to be sure our dinner at Gypsum was an unforgettable experience. We are anxious to go back so I can try that duck fried rice! For a new restaurant they are already at the top of my list for dining out!

My husband and I recently hosted our wedding reception at Gypsum Grill event space and we would 100% recommend them to anyone looking to host an event. Mackenzie, who is the event coordinator, is amazing to work with and made sure we had all the details covered. The staff was so helpful, welcoming, and accommodating to whatever we needed. Fair prices for bar/catering, and SO MANY of our guests commented at how outstanding the dinner buffet and desserts were (we thought it was stellar too!). Not to mention the space itself is beautiful and spacious. You can tell the owners and staff take pride in their facility.
Thank you again!!
