Lot’s of places to eat in Hayes, we like Mexican, so we went to Gutierrez Mexican Restaurant. It was getting near closing on a Thursday night, but we got seated right away and they took our orders. Lots of atmosphere, but a bit dark. That 32 oz lime Margarita was so good. We got served after a bit. My wife order the Chicken quesadilla and I ordered the Sancho Grande. The Sancho Grande seemed to be a seasoned beef filled burrito smothered with red chile w/beef. Yes! PINTOS beans. Who likes black beans. The beef chile was almost hot enough, but very well seasoned and flavorful.

Waited a long time just to get a drink. There was not many people in the restaurant. Placed order. The food was not that good. Waited for a while to get my check then took a while to get my card back. The server came and got my card and went back. Another table got there check after and the server who helped them came back before mine did.

When you enter and the host/hostess is secluded, you know you’re in for good mexican food. We normally hit up Cancun, but it has been really disappointing lately. The food here was authentic and delicious. I thought the portion for the price was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive.

Great food amazing salsa. But for $16 I expected more than just a 1/4 cup of rice and beans really disappointed! I means I know food prices are up but seriously this just seems cheap in every area but the bill. I can believe the used the smallest bowl in the place to put BOTH my rice and beans in. I doubt we’ll be back.

I’ve ate here a few times over the years. This place must be under new management. The food has more flavor, and the portion sizes are almost doubled. Price has also went up, but that’s everywhere though. Really pleased with this outing here.

I’ve been coming here since the late 1990s, and it’s still the same great food it’s always been. The service is always professional, prompt, and friendly. Their prices are in line with all other restaurants in town, and the food quality is above average. I look forward to my trips to western Kansas so I can stop for a great meal.

The outdoor, dog friendly patio made for a perfect stop on our road trip. The food was good. The fajitas were large and perfect to split. The chips came with two types of salsa which was a nice bonus. Would definitely recommend. All the staff was super kind and helpful. They even brought a water bowl for our pups
