First time visiting since the new venue. Spent many a movie time there when kids were growing up. Walking in there is a nice bar and table area where the concession stand used to be. The bathrooms are in the same location on either side of the main bar. Once you enter the theater they have removed seats on either side entrance and set up tables and a standing counter. There is another bar and table area across the back opposite the stage. The seating is the same original seats that have always been there. In front of the stage are now a row of tables. There is also elevated counter seating in the row immediately behind the table area.
They have reopened the balcony with 2 rows of tables so nice addition. But you will pay extra to sit up there.
The Food:
They show a decent “bar food” menu on their website, so considering we went early to get food, imagine our dismay when we were handed a “modified” menu with 5 selections and a list of “snacks”. The waiter was unable to say why. Be mindful we went to see a tribute band for CCR and Linda Rondstat so it was a packed house. It seems to me if you are trying to promote your venue and you have about 250 captive customers that would be the time when you are totally “on point” with your offerings. I will reiterate this is bar food, not gourmet bar food. They have a tiny kitchen and most of the offerings are basic frozen type foods. But the fries are good, fresh cut style. Hubby had a smash burger which he said was good. My girlfriend and I had the chicken tenders which were of good size and juicy. We ordered our sauces on the side and instead it came dumped on the top and my girlfriend’s mild was actually hot so that was a bit of an issue. Her hubby ordered the philly cheese which was under impressive. It would have been helpful if they had noted on the web page along side the evening event that they would be serving a limited menu that night. Of note they do have a full bar.
So in conclusion. I want to support local businesses especially those that are trying to breathe new life into an old historic building. I will consider attending another event in the future but will definitely grab dinner beforehand.
We could not have had better hosts from Pat and his team. The food and service were excellent. And of course, the Whey Jennings concert was fantastic. Whey heard about our group being up in the balcony and he stopped up to say hello to everyone in our group.
We had close to 25 team members which included their guest. This is the first time most of us have been in this venue, even though the business is located in Grove City. It exceeded our expectations.
You need to check out an event. It will be worth your time and money.
Continued success to Pat and his team. Thanks again for all you did to accommodate our large group.
The wall sconces inside the theater area are original and very cool, as well as the ceiling chandeliers. Outside of that, it just felt ‘tired’. We went for the first time to see one of our favorite bands, The Jeff Fetterman Band (blues/rock) in January 2025.
Now, the good part:
You walk into the lobby which now has a full bar and TV screens added. Although it’s not fancy, the locals really seem to enjoy the bar and the bar-food. The bathrooms are remodeled and are very clean/bright. From the bar, you walk through the doors to the show stage/theater. It’s a small and cozy theater where the back section of seats were removed and they added a raised ‘mezzanine’ (not to be confused with the balcony). They have tables/chairs and a snack area so you can keep watching the show, but talk a bit, etc.
The stage is pretty standard and they had nice stage lighting. The projection on the screen wasn’t super crisp so I imagine seeing a movie there might not be a top-notch technology experience. They had a classic old VW van tucked in the corner by the door, but the staging was odd with a cardboard box and other stuff shoved into the front seat area.
We got drinks and food. The bartender gal was very sweet and kind, and patrons were happy. Prices were very reasonable–you didn’t feel you were being charged for an atmosphere that wasn’t there, so it was very fair. We got a smash burger which was good–similar to Steak and Shake with fries, and a bunch of sides (Corn fritters, cheese sticks, pretzel bites). All were obviously store bought frozen and deep fried, so manage your expectations as there is no chef making original creations from scratch, but it soaked up the alcohol and filled our tummies–yes, we ate it all! And, was reasonably priced. Side note: One person in our party was disappointed they didn’t have MGD (Miller Genuine Draft) that night.
The door cover to see our band was $5.00, and they had brought a good band to play. So, it was worth the 30 minute drive from our home, and we will be back, and we’re excited to see their progress in the coming years.
