Walk into a Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, and you’ll find walls adorned with vintage and neon signs, beloved classics humming in the jukebox, tables covered in blue and red checkerboard, and plates full of some of the very best fried chicken you’ve ever tasted. Our chicken, prepared using a recipe developed over sixty years ago by the Bonner family, offers the confounding combination of perfectly crispy skin and wonderfully juicy and tender meat. Additionally, our spices offer a kick without ever overwhelming your senses. All plates are served with beans and coleslaw, but feel free to substitute those with any of our sides, all of which are prepared in house daily. And what meal isn’t complete without an ice-cold beer or a slice of pie.

I was enjoying my Gus and when I got to my last piece it was all green in the inside I’m so sad, it’s delicious I just don’t know what happened this time with the chicken quality.

I was taking a photo of the San Marcos mural on the building and noticed the restaurant. Who wouldn’t want to try world famous chicken. So, went inside. Lots of seating. Fun decor. Gus’s started in Memphis. They had a special, 4 legs, beans and slaw for $12.99. So, I got that. Also, pie was on special so got a slice of Chess and Coconut. I’m glad I didn’t read that it’s a spicy chicken. Because I normally would not have ordered it. But it’s pretty good. Just a bit of spice. I enjoyed it. The pie was ok. Good for the sale price (under $2). Good beans and coleslaw too.

Angie was an amazing waitress at Gus’s Fried Chicken. She was super friendly, attentive, and made sure everything at our table was perfect the whole time. The service was quick, our drinks were always refilled, and she had a great attitude the entire night. You can tell she really cares about giving customers a great experience.

The chicken is fried to order, so the wait may take a little while. But it’s well worth it, as it is super fresh.

Went to see my college kid for spring break and lo and behold, found this spot just minutes away from his apartment.. I live in Austin and only had Gus’s during F1 at COTA.. a couple of small pieces and I was hooked!
The chicken was just as I remembered.. crispy on the outside and tender/juicy on the inside.. the fried okra and greens were delicious.. everyone enjoyed their meals.. our server was nice and attentive.. would definitely come back for more..
