My husband and I were traveling and looking for a restaurant that was not a chain. We had two options, I told the front desk clerk the two options I had in mind. She suggested we go to Gus’s. We were so glad we did. The parking lot was crowded but we were seated right away. They clearly had enough staff as we didn’t have to wait long for our our waitress. Jessie, our waitress, was amazing with suggestions. The first night my husband ordered tomato rice soup and I had the turtle soup. Both were really good but I asked for a take-home container because it was very filling and I knew I wouldn’t be able to eat my dinner if I ate all of the soup too. A basket of hot rolls was a perfect addition. Then our roasted chicken came with two sides. The chicken was moist and amazing, even the breast meat. The sides were large and tasty. We took dessert home in a take away container. We loved it so much we returned the next night. My husband had a corn pie which he thoroughly enjoyed and I decided to order from the menu for smaller appetites. I still had a healthy size piece of haddock. Our meals both came with two sides and the basket of hot rolls. If you’re in town, go past all the other restaurants and visit Gus’s you won’t regret it.

Shrimp are so over cooked it’s like biting gravel. And this “salad” is just some lettuce tossed in here, no other veggies, nothing, not even ranch dressing…. thank God I got this pancake syrup, for some reason. Customer service is worse than the food. Will not return.

This is a great place to bring the family. It has a rustic diner charm and the food is good. Great service and friendly staff. If you happen to be there during their busy times (which I got the impression is non-stop), please give understanding to your server. They work hard and you can see it. Their staff also works as a team which you don’t see too much. They help each other and even their staff is like a family.

The food is better than it was in the past. I hadn’t been here for years so this time I had a fresh slate of judgment. The food was pretty good just a bit pricey. The service was really good I was happy about that. This is a good place to go for a family restaurant.

We got our ” food” if that’s what you wanna call it. The French onion soup was so salty I couldn’t finish it. The steak gravy meal was disgusting! I placed a picture of the grease I poured from my plate on to another from the meal. The rice was supposed to be ” Pilaf” asked for a refund.. only took one meal off. They asked how our meal was at the counter we laughed and left. They did not say a word no apologies. Stay away.

This place was great! It’s an old fashioned diner with a great menu size offering a variety of palates. The food was great and you can tell they use good quality food and know what they’re doing. The staff was nice and attentive. I would recommend this place.

I have been here for breakfast only, and multiple times on various days of the week. My breakfast is usually good, but I’ve noticed on Sundays after church (prime time) the quality isn’t as good. This is a busy place, large with lots of seating so it tends to be very loud. Service is hit or miss depending on who you have, most are attentive and friendly but busy. My only real complaint is the coffee is horrible and pricy for a plain cup of coffee, although they do leave you a small pot on your table which is nice. I would recommend giving them a try, not on a Sunday morning, skip the coffee and take a sweater as they have very good AC.
