This small town pub is legit! Our food was delicious and the atmosphere is that of Cheers, where everyone knows each other and are welcoming to the tourists that come through. Be sure to have a meal & a pint here when in Doolin! We were here off season, but there’s a cool outdoor seating area for warmer weather.

Stopped into here for lunch on recommendation from my Cliffs of Moher tour guide. This place is AMAZING! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered some drinks and still water. Then we ordered the Guinness stew, the seafood chowder, and the chicken fillet burger. The stew had creamy mashed potatoes and rich, warm, and amazing meat in sauce. It was warm and delicious and exactly what we needed after visiting the cliffs. The seafood chowder was hands down the best chowder I’ve ever had- the sauce was light, flavorful and so amazing. There was a TON of seafood in it- the only slight critique would be to note it’s a chunkier soup versus a smooth soup. If you don’t like chunky, you may not enjoy. The chicken fillet burger was crunchy, light, and had a tangy sauce. The fries (chips) were yummy and tasted fresh. All the portions were HUGE. I would love to come back again!

We LOVED this place! We have been in Ireland for 3 days and their food was the best by far! I had the salmon dinner and Irish coffee. Absolutely amazing! My friend had the Guiness Beef Stew, bread, and a vodka seltzer and she loved her meal! The staff was super friendly. The tables were repurposed sewing tables, which was super cute! Toilets were clean, great atmosphere, cozy fireplace. I would HIGHLY recommend!

Gus O’Connor’s Pub is a charming, historic gem with an authentic Irish atmosphere.
The cozy setting and lively vibe make it the perfect place to unwind. The food is outstanding— hearty and full of flavor.
The seafood chowder is creamy and rich, the mussels are fresh and perfectly cooked, and the traditional Irish stew with vegetables is comforting and delicious.
A must-visit for anyone craving genuine Irish hospitality and unforgettable flavors!

We came after seeing all the good reviews but left disappointed. We took the beef burger which was ok, nothing exceptional, the chicken wings which had a weird sauce on it, like ketchup cut with hot sauce, the beef stew which consisted of more carrots than meat and the mussels that were fine though we wondered if the pepper didn’t fall entirely into the dish. I had a side of fries which were definitely not homemade. Very loud inside and music came late, at the end of our dinner. The bartenders were nice though.

I was recommended this place by a friend, unfortunately our experience was a little different. We visited this pub yesterday for dinner (23.09.25), and unfortunately spent all day today with FOOD POISONING! We had the guinnes beef stew, fish and chips, and smoked salmon as starter, all to share. We are not sure which one was the problem but the place definitely needs to adjust their hygiene standards!
Beef stew was nice but felt like a standard stew no guinness flavor. The main dish service was too slow, we had to ask if our food is coming or not. Ambiance is nice, but never seen a pub that is not nice anyway. Servers were fine in service.

Traditional live music, incredible fresh food and lovely old pub. We had the seafood crowded and the mussels and danced to trad music all afternoon. Great place, we will be back!

AMAZING. Cozy and the best Irish meal I’ve had during my trip here. If you are passing through Doolin, this is a must! I had the traditional Irish beef stew. We also loved the goat cheese salad, tomato basil soup, and brownie. The homemade bread was incredible. Staff were so friendly and attentive! We feel so lucky to have found this gem of a spot!

If you have seen any of my other reviews then you know I’m on the look out for the best seafood chowder while on Holiday with my family.
Let’s just say I have found 2 that have blown me away. This one and another in Cobh. There was also a very nice bartender/ waiter working by the name John. -2 points John for forgetting my name, but +3 for having the guts to ask me it again! Loved the chowder! Definitely in the running for top soup thus far!

On a wet and windy day, this was a warm welcome for lunch. When you arrive, grab some menus from the bar and find a table of your choosing! Place your order at the bar and make sure you know your table number for food delivery. You’ll receive the drinks when you order. The food was quick and quite good.
