Gurulaxmi is hands down the most authentic dosa place in town. My favourite restaurant for South Indian foods. No walk-ins allowed because it’s always fully booked, so make sure you reserve in advance. Totally worth the wait though — the dosas are crispy, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Easily the best dosa in town. Highly recommended!

Gurulakshmi’s dosas are very delicious, and the prices feel fair considering the variety they offer. The chai and lassi were okay, and the customer service was good. The place is clean with comfortable seating, which adds to the experience.

However, the desserts are unfairly expensive. We tried the badam halwa, and the portion was extremely small for the $7 price. We wouldn’t order that again.

Very delicious dinner. So many different choices. We had dosas and enjoyed the fresh ingredients and quick service. I would definitely recommend this for a quick meal. It’s a very popular place and reservations are recommended.

The menu features a variety of choices, spicy and non spicy and not just dosas so it’s great for a group with different preferences.

Dining room is modern and bright, lots of seating but very close. The tables turn around quickly so it’s not a place to sit and chat after dinner and that makes it the perfect place to eat a quality meal when you have shopping, travel, movies, or other events to go to.

The service was quick, friendly and welcoming. Lots of kind smiles. I would highly recommend and I cannot wait to return.

Guru Lukshmi was hands-down one of the best South Indian dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, welcoming, and incredibly well-organized.
But the real star is the food. Their dosas are simply unmatched—crisp, golden, and perfectly seasoned, with chutneys and sambar that taste fresh and full of authentic flavor. Every dish feels like it’s been prepared with care, and the quality is consistently excellent. You can truly taste the passion behind their cooking. Highly highly recommend

They serve some of the best authentic dosas in Toronto. If you’re from Surat and looking for a Surti-style dosa where sabji is served on the side, this is not the place—so don’t expect that when ordering.

When we ordered the Mysore Masala Dosa, it came with only potato stuffing. However, the pav bhaji dosa is a better choice if you’re looking for more flavor, as it has bhaji spread inside the dosa.

We also tried the mini idli dip, which was quite spicy. If you prefer milder flavors, you can ask for mini idlis and sambar separately with regular sambar instead.

Make sure to book your table before visiting, as that’s the only hassle. Overall, it’s a good place for authentic South Indian food.

My first time ever trying a dosa and it was great! The dosa was nice and crunchy and had a good amount of potato filling. The chutney was also quite flavourful and tasted a lot better than anticipated. Their seating arrangement felt odd to me and it was awkward being seated right next to another group when there was plenty space available. The mirrored walls also only added to this discomfort and felt I couldn’t properly relax.

Guru Lakshmi remains one of the premier South Indian restaurants in the Mississauga area. We thoroughly enjoyed the Dosa, Idli, and Vada, all of which were very tasty. While the Uttapam was flavorful, it was unfortunately a bit overcooked. Additionally, the chutneys could use a slight improvement to match the high quality of the main dishes. Still, a solid choice for authentic flavors!

Good place to have south indian food for north Indians. Spots for South Indian food in Toronto – especially if you enjoy a North Indian-style masala twist in your dosas. The *Mysore Masala Dosa* is a must-try if you like a good kick of spice, and the *Paneer Dosa* was flavourful too. Uttapams are rich with ghee and full of taste – simple yet delicious.

The place has a huge seating area and quick service, but it’s almost always full, so reservations are highly recommended. Filter coffee is worth trying, though soft drinks or soda options are pretty average. Big bonus – free and ample parking available. Definitely a go-to for dosa lovers!

I had heard a lot of hype and I wanted to try it, made a reservation and I must say I am glad I did as the place was packed and lots of people waiting!
Ordered a basic Ghee Masala Dosa and was impressed that the server asked if I wanted the masala on the side ( always best so dosa does not get soggy). Exquisite taste and texture, sambhar was hot in temperature and tasted fresh & tasty (not overpowering sambhar powder taste). Three chutneys accompanying were normal but good.
Had their Kesari Bath for desert and masala chai to wash it all down. Both were very authentic. Liked the Kesari Bath so asked them to pack couple of these for taking with me. Only negative was that takeaway portion was in tiny plastic sauce boxes that I would say were less than 2 Oz each hardly 3-4 spoons. Felt cheated on that with an almost $7 price tag for each serve!!
Overall a great experience and we would certainly come back to Guru Lukshmi.

We tried masala dosa, medhu vada, green chilli masala dosa, ghee Raha dosa, Mysore Bhaji dosa – taste was amazing, only thing is dosa outer was like paper thin and 1 dosa was not sufficient for 1 person.

Badam halwa was good but quantity was too less – first I thought they gave it to try (tiny kods katori) before getting real halwa plate but no it was in kids katori – little disappointed with the quantity but overall it was gud.
