We tried both the steamed and fried momos, steamed were softer and juicier, but honestly, both lacked flavor. Same story with the goat Nepali Bhojan and lamb curry, bland and underwhelming. I’m guessing asking for mild spiciness may have stripped the dishes of both heat and basic seasoning, but either way, the dishes left a lot to be desired.
Interesting menu, but not enough to make me return. That said, I’m definitely curious to explore Nepalese cuisine elsewhere and maybe fall in love next time.
The staff were very friendly and quick to help, even though it was quite busy. They brought extra chutney and papad right away when we asked.
We ordered the Chicken Chilli Momos and they were full of flavor, definitely a must try. For the main course, we had the Chicken and Goat Traditional Plates (Thali). Each plate came with yellow dal, aloo spinach, basmati rice, papad, raita, naan bread and coconut rice pudding. The thali was nicely filling for one person.
The food was good but the yellow dal had too much ghee for my taste. One papad in my plate was a bit uncooked, so I asked the server to change it and she replaced it quickly, which I really appreciated.
The best part of the meal was the Coconut Rice Pudding. It was creamy, not too sweet, and had roasted coconut and dry fruits. Very tasty and a perfect way to end the meal.
The main reasons I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 are the extra ghee in the dal and the long wait time for the thali. Other than that, everything else was great and I’d definitely visit again.
the service is top notch, our waiter has been very kind and accommodating, she’s quite a professional!
10/10 would come back
The flavors overall felt very authentic and the place still has that mom and pop feel, which is nice. The space is a bit cramped and the chairs are not the most comfortable, so it is better for a casual meal or takeout rather than a long sit down dinner.
Prices lean on the higher side, but that makes sense for a spot on Davie. Still worth a visit for the food and the authenticity.
