Look I hate to be the one, but I put off this place because of a previous experience. The guy making the food was eating as he went preparing our order. This was years ago. My daughters liked their lentil soup so we gave it another try. The back door was wide open, and the guy cleaning and scrubbing the floors ended up being the one who made their order, that included a sandwich. Yeah, he grabbed gloves but didn’t even bother washing his hands before putting them on. Yeah, hands are dirty grabbing clean gloves that are gonna prepare sandwiches… Be clean! At least the best you can. The other employee who took our order could have done the order since the other employee was busy cleaning, scrubbing the floor. Honestly, if by any chance, someone gets sick here, call the health department! I know I will! (And by the way, as someone else mentioned… Their portions have drastically been cut. But how convenient, the price didn’t change)

This possibly could be the healthiest eatery in the Valley. The food is high quality and prepared at chef quality from their first rate sandwiches to their delicious Lentil soup, my favorite. This has become my favorite spot!
If I am in the McAllen area I stop by for my Favorite Salad.I usually order the Island Salad and the REGIA. The place is clean and well kept staff is friendly and the environment is welcoming nice music overall pleasant experience every time. I have dined in and also done take out the packaging to go go is awesome mess free.

This was my first time visiting and I’m so happy I did. The food was fresh and delicious. The restaurant was very clean and service was fast. Everyone was very courteous and welcoming.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and cozy.

First time trying this place. I order the chicken salad combo. It was good, but it was missing some flavor. I think maybe salt. I loved the salad for sure. I can see myself going there again. I think the drink I got was water with cucumber and another fruit. The water still hadn’t gotten the flavor so I traded it for the cucumber lemonade. Now that tasted much better. Friendly staff and fast service.

Loved this place. They have so many healthy options. I had the four cheese ciabatta with pineapples with a delish salad with apples, cranberries, cashews and goat cheese. The combo came with a choice of cucumber lime water or strawberry lime water. They were both great. Also with the purchase of a combo you get 5 oz free of their frozen yogurt. Everything for only $6.49. Great food at great prices. My sister and daughter had the chicken salad croissant. They both loved it. My daughter is super picky so for her to like it is a big plus. The manager Carlos and his staff were all very nice and patient with us as we asked our many questions. Gumbo’s Deli and Tapioca Rush are now joined. We also enjoyed some Tapioca Smoothies.

Okay, it’s rare that I give a restaurant a five star review, especially when on a first visit. I’m going to go ahead with this, with caveats. The restaurant is well-situated, located at the back of a pleasant atrium, inside a strip mall. There’s plenty of parking, and having the restaurant inside the atrium and not just an outdoor store front gives it added security, better environment control and more of an upscale feel.
The inside of the restaurant is comfortable, clean and minimalist, with a large window into the kitchen area affording customers the opportunity to see the entire prep area of the kitchen. I really like it when a restaurateur is so confident in his/her kitchen staff that s/he is willing to show everyone exactly how the kitchen is operating, at all times. Very cool…
The person who took my order was welcoming and quite helpful to me as a first-time visitor with no clue what to order. I was pleasantly surprised that a full lunch (takeout) for two, with tip, was less than $20.00… even though there were other customers, from order to exit was less than 15 minutes.
I’ve just completed eating my chicken salad sandwich, which was delicious! The salmon salad I ordered for my colleague looked and smelled wonderful and was incredibly ample for a meal that cost less than $8.00!
Add to the above how well-prepared the restaurant is to address the current pandemic, and I am obliged to proffer a five star review. Let’s see how Gumbo’s Deli stands up to a second visit. I can’t wait!

The broccoli soup was one of the best soups I’ve ever had and the ciabatta sandwich was really good also.
I had ordered the sandwich and the soup but it was a lot so i got to-go containers and brought it home with me and my mom also agreed that it was delicious.
