I visited in the morning. Not too busy. Prompt service. Ordered breakfast congee and BBQ combo. The food was great. The duck and roast pork were moist. Almost melt in mouth. Good texture and flavor.

I would have given this place 5 stars but -1 star for poor customer service. I understand that they are a busy and small restaurant but the newer people who work here are a little aggressive and rude. I’ve been going to this place since I was a child and sometimes with the whole family and only ever order two things, either the won ton noodle soup or the roast duck over rice. The service we received back then was a little above average as we were kind of regulars. And then another -1 star because the food isn’t what it used to be. Today, I ordered the won ton noodle soup (not pictured because I was too hungry)hungry, and it somewhat tasted different today. It was still good but seemed rushed. Then, if you look at the roast duck over rice photo, the duck is a little burnt/over cooked and looks dry. I think because they’re rushing customers, they’re not putting giving quality food anymore. But like I said, I’ve been going here as a child and this will always give me that nostalgic feeling.

I like the food but the quality consistency is questionable. Sometimes I got the good pieces and sometimes I got the parts that too fat or bony and I ended up throwing away. Even though I’m always polite, leave a tip and go here often, it did not help my case. One time they asked me to pay extra to get the good pieces (that I normally get), it’s annoying but ok. The worst is when I buy food to go, find out later and have no chance to switch.

They have a pretty good selection of entrees to choose from.

Surprised by extensive menu, not just the traditional BBQ roast items. Complementary tea, takes credit card, open later than other Oakland Chinatown restaurants, fast service, good for breakfasts start 8am, lunch special and dinner combination (3 entree special price, including soup, good for family)

There’s really no arguing the bay area is THE place to get the best Chinese food around in the US. However, as I’ve grown up, SF Chinatown has become too expensive and touristy to go for food whenever I’m around, so I opted to come here in Oakland’s Chinatown to take some friends (with very low exposure levels to Chinese food) for some good, old-fashioned Cantonese grub. This place was legit. The service was merely adequate. There wasn’t even a bathroom to be dirty. But the food was cheap(for the bay), had relatively large portions, but most importantly, tasted absolutely fantastic. It’s unpretentious and unassuming, just as it should be. From what we had, I’d highly recommend getting a half duck and the beef chow fun. Everything else was still very, very good, but those were definitely the standouts amongst all the other places I’ve been to in the bay.

This place may not be the cleanest buuuut you’re coming here for the food! Bwahaha. So don’t come here if you get grossed out with things like that. I came here to “snack” on some rice rolls cause I love them!

I heard about this place having a good roasted duck. What I got on a Wednesday afternoon was a lukewarm and overly salty bird with a chewy skin. I was disappointed. The flavor wasn’t bad and it would have been so much better if it was warmer and had crispier skin. Did I come on a bad day? The wonton soup was hot and nice.
