I ordered the Peppered Steak with rice and veg to take away and wow, I was blown away. Even though it was takeaway the food was nicely presented, it was the standard portion size but there was plenty of it, and the box was wrapped in cling film to stop any leaks.
The food was full of flavour and cooked perfectly. I’ll definitely be back and will be recommending this place to others.
The restaurant’s cleanliness was also impressive. The floors were spotless, the tables were well-maintained, and even the toilets were clean and well-stocked. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in keeping the place in excellent condition, which greatly enhanced my dining experience.
As for the food, I ordered rice and peas with goat curry. The goat meat was tender and the curry sauce was absolutely delicious, perfectly complementing the rice. The flavors were rich and authentic, a real treat for the taste buds. I also tried the jerk chicken, which was hands down the best jerk chicken I’ve ever tasted. It had just the right amount of spice and melted in my mouth, truly capturing the essence of Caribbean cuisine. Additionally, I got the mac and cheese, which was very nice and added a comforting, cheesy delight to the meal.
For dessert, I had the honeycomb cheesecake, which was equally impressive. The cheesecake was delicious, with a perfect balance of creamy cheese and crunchy honeycomb. It’s clear that Gullus Kitchen Caribbean knows how to make a fantastic cake.
I also enjoyed the grape drink, which was very nice. I appreciated the variety in their drink selection, which offered refreshing options to complement the meal.
Additionally, the restaurant is halal, making it a great option for Muslim diners. I will definitely be back because of the outstanding hospitality, delicious food, and impeccable cleanliness. Highly recommended!
It may look basic inside but the food was excellent and the menu is detailed an extensive. Can be very busy on a Saturday but they do have an on line order as well. Just make sure you have worked up appetite. You will spot the smoke coming from the smoker at 12 noon which smells amazing. The takeaway food is wrapped in cling film which will prevent any mess as the portions are very generous.
Service: …
The food at Gullu’s Kitchen Caribbean was good, though not exceptional. We ordered for collection, and the website stated it would be ready in 15 minutes, but we ended up waiting 30 minutes. It was clear they were struggling with the Friday evening rush, so I understand it might have been a busy time for them.
That said, I’d go back—it feels like a case of bad timing. Next time, I’ll try the jerk chicken instead of the curry goat!
My recommendations:
-If you don’t see the grill cooking don’t bother. You’d just get reheated Jurk chicken
-watch when they pack your order. I’ve had my order messed up twice
