We had a magical sunset evening at the Gulf Drive Cafe . We asked for a table just at the beach line. The view was spectacular with gorgeous fire reds and pinks as the sun set on a shimmering gulf . Madison our server was attentive and very sweet. We also met Voula who greeted us like family! My sister in law ordered the food which was really very good with an array of fish bites and a platter that included some Greek traditional items .

My wife and I both ordered a fried shrimp entree for $28 which was bad enough only to be served generic level prefab out of the box shrimp and frozen generic fries. No restaurant that is literally feet from the gulf should be serving boxed shrimp. Wait staff confirmed that it was prefab. The food has always just been meh at this place. View is nice though.

Definitely a place you want to visit when you’re at holmes beach. The drinks are wonderful and the food was great. They have live music, and the ocean views are fantastic. A great place to go, have drinks and enjoy the ocean views.

I have been coming to the Gulf Drive Cafe for years for the prime location of dining right on the beach. If only the food and service matched the amazing views and atmosphere.

The first thing I noticed is that they really jacked up their prices. Very overpriced. And the food is sub par, it was just ok. I don’t think any of us were impressed by the food.

The service was also pretty slow. The only thing that saved it was again, the awesomeness of having dinner on the beach while watching the sun set.

We’ve been staying in Cortez for the past 6 weeks. This was our first time at Gulf Drive cafe even though we drove by many times. Coincidentally there was a sunset which was beautiful. It took us forever to get a drink. It was busy, but we were ignored. We stood behind someone that got a drink before us so we thought it was the place to stand to get waited on. No acknowledgment whatsoever. So we said something to the service bartender and she finally asked a bartender to help us. Neither of them looked happy to take care of us. But it sure was pretty.
