My husband and I dined here for the first time Saturday evening, we weren’t quite sure what to expect based on some of the reviews, but boy were we pleased!
1) Heather B was our server — she was AMAZING! Very attentive, kind and informed on the menu and recommendations. We took all her suggestions and they were fantastic.
2) food and drinks were TOP NOTCH — the Carolina reaper marg was delish (we lived in Austin TX for 4 years and this was the best spicy marg we’ve had since!!) & we also enjoyed the chicken quesadilla, shrimp soup and grouper taco special. All were DELIGHTFUL
3) we enjoyed a quiet evening on the patio, we also love the Harlow right next door but felt it was a shame this place wasn’t busier on a Saturday night. Truly a hidden gem. HIGHLY RECOMMEND — THANK U HEATHER!!

Avoided this place for years because it’s called a Seafood Cantina and I don’t eat seafood. That was definitely a mistake! I’ve been twice now and the food and service is fantastic. The place has a chill bar vibe and excellent food that is very well executed. I’ve only had the chicken quesadilla and chicken tacos (pictured) so far but I look forward to going back and trying additional non seafood items. Highly recommend!

I had no wait at all and sat at the bar! The fried goat cheese taco is my favorite… I also had the parm crusted mahi and it made my mouth water. My friend wanted to steal it from me, but he got the blackened grouper tacos and loved them! The staff is amazing!!! Drink wine and it was lovely, my friend thought their margarita was great ! Coming back soon!!!

Food was very meh, pretty typical non-authentic “mexican” food. Portions were huge, but there was an extremely hot pepper in the middle of my carne asada taco that i bit into before I figured it out, then couldn’t eat anything after that. The service was not great either- stood around inside the front door for several minutes looking lost and none of the staff said a word to us until after we seated ourselves. Then one lady rushed over to us in a huff and said she had to clean the table first. Look, there was hardly anybody there, it was a weeknight at around 5:30. Our server was actually a very nice younger woman, and once she got to the table the service was better, so I’m granting a star for that. Overall, this is a disappointing experience for a place with such a high rating, especially in a town where competition is fierce. It was weird.

Honestly all the tacos sounded so good we ended up ordering one of everything. The prices are very reasonable. The tacos were very, very good. The Carnita, carne asada and shrimp po boy were our favorites- but they were all so unique and each had great flavors! I’d go back to try other things on the menu! Atmosphere was laid back.

My husband and I were in from out of town and tried this place after seeing the good reviews. We got the trio dip appetizer with salsa, guacamole, and queso. I had chicken quesadillas and my husband had a couple tacos. The quesadillas were amazing! Great value for the money, great food and friendly service. Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

This was our second time coming to Grump Goat Seafood Cantina, and we have loved it both times. A nice blend of Americana Tex Mex, the specialty tacos are my go to, especially the cantina chicken taco and of course, the fried goat cheese taco. Both are very flavorful and not too bad on price for about $5 a taco.
