I can only evaluate based on two items and carryout as I did NOT eat inside.

I ordered at the bar, which the service was quick and pleasant.

I ordered the Restaurant Crawl special for $7 which was the Lake Perch basket with cole slaw & tartar sauce. I also ordered the sweet potato fries for $7.

Both entrees were excellent. The Lake Perch was just perfect. It’s fried and not soaked in butter how some restaurant prepare it. So it’s easy to handle and dip into the tartar sauce, which was on the sweet side. The cole slaw would have been better if it was in a separate bag or container instead of being with the fish as it was warm.

The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly, too. Very tasty and I at every last one! It did not need any condiment to make them taste better.

I would go back – but not sure about eating indoors – it’s definitely a bar area and it appears to allow smoking inside, unsure of that though. The bar has two sides and there are plenty of large/long tables spread out and you can dine as a single, couple or larger group. But there is a sign on the door that says 21 and over only. They will card!

Let me start by saying I love this bar and have never had an issue until tonight.Unfortunately, Dawn managed to ruin the experience almost immediately.

When we walked in, the bar was quiet. No rush, no crowd, no chaos. We sat at the bar and Dawn asked if we wanted drinks. I ordered a water, and my two friends say they need a minute to decide if they want beer or liquor. She’s gone for 15+ minutes…Dawn wasn’t busy serving tables or helping other guests, she was fully invested in a long, uninterrupted conversation with another group. My friends repeatedly tried to make eye contact and get her attention. She would look at my friends, then look back to continue her conversation.

After 15+ minutes, my friends decided they weren’t comfortable spending money somewhere they were clearly unwelcome. When I finally flagged Dawn down, she casually asked, “What can I get you guys?” as if nothing had happened. I then said, “Nothing, but I do want to let you know that we felt it was unprofessional to-“ She immediately cut me off, got defensive, raised her voice, and said, “I came over 3 times what do you want me to do beg?!” As Dawn is barking at us like a dog, I said “look at you getting defensive when I’m just trying to point out your customer service.” Her and I go back and forth because at this point I’m angry the WORKER would talk to ANYONE like that!

She then walks away and gets security to clean up her own mistake. We talk to him and tell him everything that happened. Even after that, she couldn’t help herself and came back to make a slick comment about us “counting quarters,” despite the fact that the quarters were clearly for the pool table.

Completely unnecessary & unprofessional.

I also couldn’t ignore the uncomfortable micro-aggressions throughout the interaction. We were the only dark-skinned guests there, and everyone around us was being served promptly and warmly. When I used a Spanish word (“Cucuy”), she responded with “that’s weird” and a visibly disgusted look—an odd reaction for someone working in hospitality.

I’ve never had an issue at this bar before, but Dawn’s behavior was dismissive, defensive, and frankly embarrassing for someone whose job is customer service. I hope management takes note, because this kind of attitude is exactly how regulars stop coming back.

Dawn is an awesome bartender. She moves with a sense of urgency and is all around a hard worker and cool lady. I saw the incident mentioned in another post by Alisha and that review is a completey inaccurate prrception of whag occurred, lies lies lies. Dawn rocks

Been there quite a few times during the day for a few drinks after a rough day. Service is slow and bartender doesn’t come around too often. I just make it a point to order my first 2 drinks and hopefully she’ll come around for my 3rd n final drink. Im usually a good tipper $5-7 but now $2 is good enough. Sorry!

They need to fire Terry the bartender. She had given me attitude for taking my time to choose a drink. She told me to hurry up or she is not gonna serve me. I also had witnessed her multiple times taking a shot of liquor with customers who she likes. She is very rude and unprofessional to her customers. She obviously hates her job.

One of the standards when I come to Spots in northwest Indiana.. they have great food and the staff is great.. they have game nights like bingo. Overall definitely a good place to chill and have a drink and watch the game.

Security is amazing. Barthenders should change a career.
1.If you ask for Hennessy she will bring you Guinness
2.Other barthender, someone needs to buy her a watch it took her 24 minutes to bring 3 tequila shots and beer
3.They both don’t have patience
4.Nobody expecting fine dining but have common sense politeness customer service
5.They are incapable of communicating too each other.Forget, ignore and yell it’s the way how they do it.
6.They think security guards are personal pit bulls and that’s how they talk to them
7.They don’t know how to keep normal tone
8.They want to create drama and escalate.
Location ,atmosphere five stars… Bartenders ,if you hate job that you do,please find something else… You can always apply to work as correction officers, oil off shore, railway construction because that kind of kind of kindness you have.

What’s the world coming to when you literally can’t get a glass of water when you just paid for an expensive pint of beer.
Nope, they actually make you pay for water .
Which is kind of sad because their place in New Carlisle (the Billy goat )doesn’t do it .
Plus it’s smoking in here . Something else that they don’t do in new Carlisle
Thumbs down

This was my first time at Growlers in the Highway. We are fans of the Rich the MC of Bingo and Karaoke on Thursday nights @7pm. I ordered food and drinks. The food is delicious and the drink specials are cheap. I love a good well drink @ $3.50. Can’t beat it. Videos are from Karaoke.

Went there for the crawl. Had double cheeseburger with bacon and chips. The only issue was the time it took to get our order. Three of us took 40 min. It was ok. I like the chips.
