Gris-Gris is a must-visit in NOLA. Everything we tried felt thoughtful and well executed, and it’s easy to see why this place is so popular.
We ordered the chicken gizzards, chicken & waffles, and two seasonal cocktails – the cookie martini and the gingerbread drink. The drinks were on the sweeter side (as our waitress warned us), but they were really tasty and perfect if you enjoy dessert-style cocktails.
The chicken gizzards were a pleasant surprise. This was only my second time trying them, and I didn’t love them the first time elsewhere, but Gris-Gris completely changed my mind. You honestly couldn’t even tell they were gizzards, the sauce was very flavorful, and the grits were solid as well. The chicken & waffles were excellent. You could tell real care went into the waffle – it definitely wasn’t just a basic mix. The chicken was juicy and crispy, and while the butter was more savory than I usually prefer, it paired really well with the dish.
The environment was another highlight. The open kitchen, the upstairs bar, and the overall design made the space feel lively and welcoming. It’s a beautiful spot and a great place to enjoy a meal and drinks.

If you’re looking for authentic NOLA flavors, this is the spot! I highly recommend the Oyster BLT. I ordered that dish and the Grilled Steak Cobb Salad, both were packed with flavor and absolutely amazing. The restaurant offers a great atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. Also, the staff is welcoming and friendly. Let try it when you come NOLA.

My wife and I dined at Gris-Gris prior to attending a concert. Upon arrival at approximately 5:15 pm, we received a warm welcome from the front desk staff and were promptly seated upstairs. Our waitress provided exceptional service, demonstrating attentiveness and kindness throughout our meal. We commenced with the chicken and sausage gumbo as an appetizer, which showcased well-balanced flavors and a remarkably silky texture – truly delicious. For our main course, we opted for the fish of the day, swordfish, which we had not previously tried. The dish was expertly prepared, served atop a bed of roasted zucchini and cherry tomatoes. The fish was exceptionally fresh, and its preparation was flawless; we both concurred that it was the finest fish we had ever had. The accompanying vegetables provided a delightful contrast to the rich, buttery flavor of the fish. Additionally, my Old Fashioned cocktail was expertly crafted. Overall, we highly recommend Gris-Gris for its relaxed atmosphere, premium spirits, and outstanding cuisine. By the way, Paul McCartney was amazing as well!

Had dinner here the other night. An oh my goodness this place I fantastic the food the service and the atmosphere. We ate on the balcony over looking Magazine street such a wonderful experience service was quick and they seem to know when we needed something. The food was delicious well beyond delicious I had the chicken and dumplings and my wife had shrimp and grits. They were so flavorful that I wanted to come back the next night and eat again.
If you are in or going to New Orleans this is a must visit for at least dinner once during your stay and if I lived there I would visit a couple times a month.

No wait time for our reservation for 3 at 7:30 on a Sunday evening. We were seated upstairs at a pub table. Our server was Lindsey M. She was polite and efficient. We asked her opinion on what two appetizers would be best to try since this was our first time here. We had oyster BLT, Flambeaux shrimp and a side of fries. All were pretty good except the fries were a little salty. Lindsey’s knowledge on the menu was insightful and we were definitely glad with the two appetizers she suggested. Sorry no pictures of our appetizers.
Our dinners consisted of a Caesar salad with chicken; the chicken was a little salty, Shrimp & Gris-Gris Grits; was told this meal was deliciously spicy & LGD burger with the works- which consisted of avocado, bacon and egg; was told it was good but extremely messy.
No dessert for us because we were plenty full. We also didn’t have any cocktails but had 3 liquid death sparkling water.
Our bill was about $150.00 not including tip.
My suggestion is to look at the menu first because this may not be for everyone.

Everything was delicious. Even chicken and rice for the dog. Are you kidding?! Our server was lovely, tall red-head! We had most of the dishes on the menu and all were flavorful and divine. They were also super accommodating to our large group- thank you!!!

I ordered the special “fish and veggies”. The fish was a little under cooked to preserve the moisture. My husband’s was perfect through and through. I didnt complain because it wasn’t that big of a deal but should be noted. The fish was packed with flavor and the veggies.
The hospitality was genuine and the overall service was great.

The vibe is laid-back but lively — you can sit at the chef’s counter downstairs and watch the kitchen in action or grab a table upstairs with a view over Magazine Street. The food nails that perfect mix of classic and creative Southern cooking. I got the Catfish Po Boy which was very good. The staff makes the place feel genuinely welcoming. It’s the kind of spot you can go for a casual night out or bring friends from out of town to show them some classic NOLA food

This was my second time here and it did not disappoint once again. We had balcony reservations during a time where rain was possible and they were very accommodating in the event it started to rain. Our waiter was knowledgeable on the specials for the day and made some suggestions. The mimosas were amazing and so was the food. This place is in my top 5 for brunch in NOLA
