We were in Birmingham for a shopping trip and went out as a big family. My sister-in-law chose Grills Restaurant on the spot. We walked in with no plans, no booking and without checking the reviews. It was a Tuesday night and the place looked quiet at first, with only one table occupied, but we decided to give it a try.
The atmosphere inside was nice and very modern. The heating was good, and both the restaurant and toilets were clean. From what I later saw in other reviews, they also have a prayer space, which is a great touch. All the food is halal.
Everyone ordered separately. My kids had the lamb steak, which was good and came in large portions. The extra mac and cheese was nothing special. The chicken burger meal was decent. The spicy rice was okay but the portion was on the small side. The chips were very tasty – proper thick chips, which I loved.
My wife had the sirloin steak, medium-well, with the sizzler special, served with chips and rice. That was easily the best dish on the table.
I went for the rump steak meal, medium-well. It came out closer to medium-rare, so I asked for it to be redone. It was slightly better the second time, but still not quite right. I didn’t finish it as I was already full from street food earlier, so I took it home. I had it the next day for lunch and it was actually amazing – full of flavour and very tender. Next time, I’ll definitely be going for the sirloin sizzler.
The staff were very friendly. The boss and the young waiter really looked after us and made us feel at home. I will definitely be going back and will try the dishes they are known for, especially the kebabs and curries. The portions are huge, great value for money, and full of flavour. There’s a wide choice of food, from peri peri and curries to kebabs and steaks. The prices were decent overall.

Stopped here around 10pm on Ladypool Road after a 6+ hour drive from Cornwall, hoping for a quick halal bite before heading back up north. Saw Grillz Grillhouse on TikTok, but the reality was nothing like the reels.
The place was empty on a Friday night. We ordered a chicken parmesan, keema nachos, and two chicken steak burgers one without chips . The food presentation was shocking- the parmesan looked “sad” with a joke of a salad- straight out of a bag and wilted
, the burgers were bland and depressing also, and the nachos were literally tortilla chips with jarred sauce, a bit of keema and jalapeños from a jar that looked like a quick 30second make. Definitely not worth the money, any of it
Service was no better — staff stood around looking lost as no customers, made no effort to check on us, despite it being obvious I wasn’t happy – felt they didn’t care. We paid full price and left disappointed. Honestly, they should be ashamed to serve food like this charge full price a d think it’s acceptable. Wish we’d chosen a different place.
Final thoughts. Avoid – Definitely would not recommend and certainly won’t be returning

Good quality food with great portion sizes, and great value for money. We had the part platter which consisted of 2 chickens, chops, wings, signature kebabish and 4 sides all for £37.99 which I personally feel is a great deal.

I had a great experience at Grillz. The food was delicious, freshly cooked, and clearly prepared to a high halal standard. The flavours were excellent and the quality really stood out.
A special mention to our waiter, Al Ameen, who provided outstanding service. He was polite, attentive, and very professional, making the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable. His friendly manner and efficiency made a real difference.
Overall, fantastic food and excellent customer service. I would highly recommend Grillz and will definitely be returning.

I tried the ribeye steak today and it was absolutely delicious. The food was amazing and the drinks were great as well. The service from Alamin and Hamid was excellent; they were very helpful and attentive throughout. Big credit also goes to the chefs for the effort and quality they put into the food. Overall, one of the best restaurants and meals I’ve tried.
